I couldn't believe I was doing this. I barely even knew this guy. I was putting myself at risk for this hunky stranger, and I didn't know wether it would pay off or I would be humiliated.

But as my former friends pointed out, I needed to take risks.

So that's why I diverted from my usual forest route and ran not on the safe path, but on the risky path. Being wild was why I was standing in the parking lot of Brentwood High School, awaiting for the dismissal of their student body. And I knew there would be a lot of people, because sports were cancelled city wide because of parent-teacher conferences.

So he would be here. I knew he would be. But his reaction to my presence all depended on what he had wanted to talk about when he told me to call him. Did he want to make sure it was clear we would never see each other again, or was he trying to convince me of the second date he had talked so much about?

I bit my lip. Crap. The anxiety was real.

The bell rang loud and clear. Ba duh Ba. Ba duh Ba.

The front doors comically flew open and students streamed out. There was so many it was hard to keep track, but one thing that applied to all high schools was that people travelled in packs. Always.

I rocked on my toes until finally the athletes groups were exiting the building. I squinted, trying to make our faces, but it turned out I didn't have to. The football group was the largest group and apparently they all parked in the same area. This area being where I stood and then to my left.

They all gave me weird looks as they walked by. Who was I? Why was I here? Why did I look like the french girl from the party a couple weeks ago?

Valid questions.

A pair of hands snakes around my waist, which caused me to jump. "Hey!"

A chuckle filled my ears. "Relax. I just made your life easier."

I grinned, but didn't turn around. Not yet. "Oh yeah? How so?"

"You were looking for me. I found you."

"Oh I am so grateful."

I turned around and was face to face with Blake. He was grinning. "You are a brave person coming into this territory? It feels too much to hope for that it was for me? Especially since you ignored my texts."

My heart dropped. Texts? As in more than one? Dammit Maddie. Dammit McKenzie.

"My friends saw you text me and they freaked. So they deleted your number," I said bitterly. "I'm not very good memorizing numbers of egotistical men. Forgive me?"

"Mm, I feel like you are calling me forgettable. Should I fix this?" He leaned close, his warm breath tickling my mouth and beckoning for me.

I bit my lip. "It takes a lot to sway me."

He pulled me against his chest. "Perhaps I should trace every digit of my phone number on your lips so you won't ever forget it. I'll make sure it's slow, since that seems to be your kind of pace."

Ouch. I was about to defend myself from not kissing him in the hot tub, but we were interrupted before I could even make up for it now.

"Baron what the hell are you doing?" A voice laughed.

Blake groaned and slowly pulled himself away from me. He glared at someone past me. "What do you want, Anthony? Buzzkill much? I'm kinda in the middle of something."

I giggled softly.

"We're heading out to Gian's with some of the cheer girls. We even convinced Reagan to join us because we said you are coming. So?...You coming?"
