One day I was singing a sad song while washing up in the kitchen. I hadn't realised that he had walked in, but he wrapped his arms around me in a way that told me it was him who was there. I stopped singing and smiled as he held me tight. We were silent for a moment, just listening to the music until he whispered in my ear, "What would you know about a broken heart?" I turned around in his arms to look up into his eyes. I could see that he had meant it as a joke because of the song I was listening to but I answered seriously. "There are many ways your heart can be broken, not just by a guy you've fallen in love with." He stayed silent as he stared down at me, willing me to continue. "Family can break your heart, you can break your own heart."
