"No."
I shook my head vigorously at the dress Gia put in front of me. Well, if you can call it a dress.
"Yes."
"Gia, no! If I wear that, I'll lose my dignity. And probably my profanity."
"But it's so cute!" Gia coaxed.
"No, it's a DFD," I deadpanned.
"A what?" Gia cocked her hip and crossed her arms, a look of confusion crossing her pretty, slightly freckled face.
"A DFD. Dental Floss Dress." I mused, sifting through my closet and pulling out potential outfits. After looking for a few moments, I gave up and flopped onto my bed, letting Gia work her magic.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Gia voiced, somewhere deep inside my ginormous walk-in closet.
"It means it's skimpier than a piece of fricken dental floss. I want to look pretty, not slutty." Gia walked out of my closet holding a little (emphasis on little) black dress.
"Fine," she huffed, "I'll wear it." I tossed her the piece of fabric she called a dress and took the dress she handed me. I walked into my closet and began changing.
"Why am I doing this again?" I questioned as I pulled on the tight fitted dress. I heard Gia sigh helplessly.
"Because. It's a party for Jay, and since you love parties and Jay," I chocked on my spit when she said this, "it's perfect." I straightened the dress and walked out of the closet, twirling and checking out the dress in the mirror.
"I do love parties, but I do not love Jay. In fact, I'm beginning to think you're trying to set up me and Jay so you can have access to Zach." I turned and smiled at her accusingly. It was so funny when she blushed because she didn't do it often. She's my quirky, confident, naturally beautiful best friend and I love her to death, but her evil schemes are too obvious these days. I've caught on to this one quicker than I usually do.
Gia shrugged, avoiding my accusation, and she stepped into my closet. A minute later, she walked out wearing the DFD. It didn't look as skimpy on her, I guess she can pull off those kinds of dresses. I looked down at my dress. It was still pretty slinky, but compared to Gia's, I was wearing a freaking smock. Gia's was hardly a dress, the tight skirt stopping at about mid-mid thigh. Basically enough fabric to cover her butt, but nothing too much longer. It had a large back cutout and a one shoulder strap. The rich green color of the dress complimented her auburn hair and made her green eyes pop. My dress was black with a deep v cutout on the front and it was about a few inches above standard mid thigh. The skirt fanned out slightly at the bottom, giving it a twirly affect that I loved. The black complimented my eye color, making them look more grey blue. I finished off the look with a lighter version of a smokey eye and red lipstick and I curled my hair loosely. Gia paired her dress with black pumps and a wavy ponytail, I stuck with classic nude heels, and then we left.
Zach's house was relatively nearby and it was pretty big, a great size for parties. No wonder his parties were legendary. We could hear the loud popular music before we even parked our car down the long line of cars, stretching past the block. The smell of alcohol struck my nose as soon as I set foot inside the house, and there were already 4 couples making out in the front hallway. Gia grabbed my hand and led me through the numerous hallways (his house was huge) until we reached the main room where the party was going on. A table with scattered snacks and various alcoholic beverages was set up in a corner. I opted for a bottled water instead. Not huge on drinking. Gia grabbed a Dr. Pepper and we navigated our way through couples on the dance floor toward where Zach was standing, flirting with a cheerleader I knew. She was nice, but still a flirt. I noticed Gia grow tense next to me at the sight of her so I waved at the cheerleader hoping she would get the message. She did and and she waved back, then skipped away toward another group of cheerleaders. Zach smiled as soon as he saw Gia and set his beer down on the counter behind him.
