“Holy cupcake, this place is amazing, I mean, dude, it’s just- no, it’s like-, no, it can’t be put into words!” I try to explain in awe as I stare wide eyed and mouth agape at the beautiful, kind of rough around the edges skate park.

“If you say so, to you this must look like paradise like it does to every other person that skateboards, but to me it just looks like an abandoned construction site a bunch of teens worked on the fill it with holes and ramps,” Victoria shrugs.

“Hell yea it looks like paradise! Do you know how long it took for the people to make this?” I turn around to ask her, I mean, this couldn’t have been an overnight job. Just look at how well the holes are dug, and most of them have been paved over. To my right there’s a bunch of ramps tall and short, happy that most of them are at Advanced Boarders height.

“About a week,” she shrugs, “I helped out sometimes, my Dad and I brought over some food and equipment. My boyfriend loves it here,” she laughs.

Boyfriend? Did she just say boyfriend? I must be hearing things, she didn’t just say boyfriend, right?

“You have a boyfriend?” I ask slowly, careful not to let my anger seep into my voice.

“Yes, he’s really nice, I’m sure you two will get along well. He’s coming over for dinner as well, I’ll introduce you then,” she smiles, and my left eye twitches a bit.

“Ahh, I see, well, I should be getting home, to tell my parents about the dinner plans,” I smile tightly.

“Great idea, I should probably get washed up and start cooking,” she nods in agreement, her bright green eyes happy and oblivious to the pain she just caused me.

“Great, let’s go,” I say, my voice kind of high like my pants are on too tight, trying not to scream out in anger.

“Dad, is the cake ready?” I frown as I enter the kitchen.

“Ready and frosted, do you want anything to eat, I can quickly whip something up,” Dad offers kindly and quietly.

                “Mom’s still home?” I ask.

“Yes, but I’m sure I can get you something.” Dad smiles sadly.

“No, that’s fine. Victoria invited us all over for dinner, I’ve already agreed, sorry,” I sigh.

“Well, I wouldn’t mind going, but your mother on the other hand.”

“Tell her, but I don’t want her to come.” I shrug, letting my gloom get the best of me.

“Don’t want me to go where?” Mother asks sharply as she enters the kitchen.
