Jimin's POV

"I dont want to wear that," I complained. "Then how else are you going to go to school? You need to hide your ears," she told me as she held a thick beanie in her hands. "And my tail? Wearing beanies is so uncomfortable. I'll just stay homeschooled like I've always been," I said, plopping back down on my bed.

Im a cat....partially.

My mother and father are hybrid felines, which is where I get my traits from. Both my parents want me to live a normal life, but how? I have ears, a long tail and these pointy teeth. I dont think anyone would just disregard that about me if I walked down the street. Some may think its cosplay, but Id rather not risk it.

I met this girl a few months back when I made the mistake of napping in the tall grass field up at the peak of a small mountain were people dont really hike at night. The night is my blanket. Its where I can go out and take a fresh breath. But anyway, I went up that mountain and laid at the top where the city is visible. It gets cold, so I take fluffy blanket with me.

That day, I sat down and watched the city like always. I wasnt really cautious to look out for regular humans as I used to, so I enjoyed the view, ate some cookies, and bundled up in my blanket, twitching my ears at sharp noises of mice or anything that would alert danger. I fell asleep so comfortably that I didnt even hear her.

I thought I had heard a gasp in my sleep and a lovely voice say, "thats a big cat! Awww! Is it a mountain lion? I cant see," she said to herself. Come to think of it, why on Earth would she say 'aww' to a mountain lion that could've mauled her? Ah, anyway, I heard her voice in my sleep but instead of jolting up, I purred.

Great job Jimin.

She couldnt see me well since the grass was tall enough to cover me, but she still approached me. Thats when she gasped loud enough to wake me. I sat up and we faced each other, both wide eyed and shocked for different reasons. My ears turned away in fear. I didnt know if that was the end of me. She stood there for a long time, frozen and quizzical about the situation so I took the chance and grabbed all my stuff as quickly as I could. I grabbed my blanket in any way I could and ran past her, but she stepped on the end of the blanket that was dragging on the floor and she fell back hard.

Now this was awkward.

I looked back at her, feeling terrible as she slowly sat up, grunting. "Im so sorry!" I said as my dumbass went back and knelt down to her. She had a scrape on her elbow. "Sorry..I didnt mean to hurt you," I said. I felt my ears pull back in personal blame to have hurt someone, but she just stared at me. "Are those real?" she asked and I immediately remembered the conflict I was in. I stood up and was now in conflict with myself. Should I leave? Should I help her? Or should I kill her? I can... it'd be easy, but I already felt bad enough hurting her. Plus, something about human contact made me needy of it.

I nodded at her question, but still felt like I was making the wrong decision in staying here. Humans are very good deceivers. They're expert liars.

She got up and got closer to me. The night was dark, but a closer look helped to distinguish. "Your eyes are pretty," she said. Our eyes, us hybrid felines, glow in certain circumstances..usually when we feel strong emotions. In this case, when she said that to me, I felt an adrenaline rush. She gasped quietly when she saw them and I looked down, feeling ugly and shameful to be so different, but she slowly approached me, reaching her hand out to my head as I pushed my head down. This was the first time a human touched me.

"Can- I?" she asked but I didnt say yes. Nor did I stop her. Her cold fingers touched my hair first and then traveled to my ears where she caressed them ever so gently. I closed my eyes. It was such a blissful moment and then I wondered if humans had powers.. or some kind of hidden strength where they make us felines feel a certain way.. or maybe it was just her.
