Valt's POV:
"Takishi! Get up!" I yelled ripping the blanket off the sleeping male. He woke with a start.
"Ah! Something wrong? Where's the fire? Are we dying?!" he questioned. I sweatdropped.
"No, no fire, and no one is dying," I said annoyingly. "But I'm not sleeping here all day. Come on. I'm facing Ilima today."
"Ah! Sorry, Valt," Takishi said sheepishly. He got up and gathered his things, while I waited. "Alright! We're ready to leave!"
"Then come on," I said walking on. I put my backpack around my shoulder and continued walking.
"So, Valt. From what I heard, you're new to Pokémon in general, right?" Takishi asked suddenly. I turned to look at him. I realized, then, that I didn't have my headband on.
"Uh... yea. How did you know?" I asked still walking forward.
"Well, everyone was talking about 8 people, who were called bladers, coming here to learn about Pokémon," he said with a smile. Rowlet flapped around happily. I glared slightly.
"Yeah, I'm a blader. Now working on becoming the best trainer," I said turning around closing my eyes.
"Were you powerful?" Takishi smirked. I kept walking, not facing him.
"Kinda. Won most battles. Only lost to really powerful bladers; some I beat them the second time I battled them. How do you know this and why so questioning about it?" I asked. I heard him laugh.
"Just want to know more about my new friend," he said. I snickered to myself. 'Friend? Ha! Takishi has a long ways to go to be classified a friend of mine.' I thought with a small laugh. "Hm? What's so funny?"
"Ah nothing," I sighed.
"Well, you said you were going to face Ilima, right?" he suddenly asked. I turned and nodded to him. "Well, right in here is his trail, if you're going to face him."
I glanced to the cave. I couldn't see anything, it was so dark. 'This... is Ilima's trail?' I thought. Ilima suddenly stepped out of the dark cave with a smile.
"Valt! Great to see ya again. Here to challenge my trail?" Ilima asked. Rockruff jumped down to the ground and glared at the cave.
"Yea, I'm here to defeat the first trail of the Island Challenge," I said sticking my hands in my pockets in my vest.
"Uh... Ilima? Can I challenge your trail as well?" Takishi asked shyly. My eyes went wide.
"Wait, you're taking on the Island Challenge as well?" I asked. Takishi frowned a little and nodded. "Sweet!"
"You don't mind?" Takishi asked a little nervously. I laughed.
"Why should I? Just another person I have to go through to become top, right?" I said with a genuine smile. He lightened up and nodded.
"Hehe, this way, Valt and Takishi," Ilima said gesturing to the cave. We both nodded and walked into the cave.
~~~Time Skip~~~
"That's Gumshoos! It's the Totem Pokémon for Ilima's trail!" Takishi exclaimed as a huge Gumshoos appeared. I smirked."Eevee! It's your time to shine!" I exclaimed.
"Eevee!" Eevee cried out.
"Let's start this off with Iron Tail!" I yelled.
Eevee's tail glowed white as she rushed towards the Totem Pokémon. Gumshoos braced itself as Eevee smacked into Gumshoos.
