Mae P.O.V.

"Mae, grab those other boxes and bring them into the house." I grabbed the alst couple of boxes out of the truck and turned around looking and admiring the house that was ours now. I walked up the steps into the house and saw my dad starting to sort through the rest of the boxes as my mom came down the stairs.

"You excited to decorate your own room?" My mom asked as she stepped off the last step. "All your boxes are up there if you want to start now." She said turning and looking up the stairs.

"Awesome!" I said placing the boxes i was holding down over by my dad. "What about all the furniture?" I started to walk toward the stairs.

"It's already up there. We had them put it together when they delivered it from the store." My dad stood up and walked over to me following me upstairs.  "If you want we can paint your room a different color." He said as he looked at the beige walls in the room.

"No I like it." I walked into the room and spun around takin git all in. I finally had a room. After 6 months of living in Seattle we had finally moved out of the trailer and I could finally sleep in a real bed rather than the couch. "This is amazing." I hugged my dad as he started to leave me to unpack my stuff by myself. This is going to be great!

A few days later my dad was cleared to go back to work and we were getting ready to leave the house. My mom had left for New York the day before and it was just us. I walked downstairs after getting dressed in a pair of skinny jeans, black t-shirt and grabbed my white Nike's and backpack heading downstairs to the smell if chocolate chip pancakes.

"Hey, sweetheart!" My dad said seeing me coming through the walkway. "I made your fave." He smiled pointing down to the stack of pancakes sitting on the counter.

"Looks good." I said placing my bag on the table and taking a seat at the counter. "You excited to get back to work?" I asked shoving a pancake in my mouth. I looked up at him and his smile drooped.

"Yeah, I'm just a little nervous." He said trying to hide his fear. "Just after everything... I feel like..." He paused dropping the spatula he was holding. "I'm just scared that I'm going to go in there and not feel the same as I did before." I looked at him and gave him a smile getting up from my chair.

"You are going to be the best neurosurgeon in that hospital and in the world." I pulled him into a hug squeezing him tighter as he squeezed back.

"Why are you so brave?" He asked still gripping me tight." And what would I do without you?" He laughed.

We walked up to the doors of the hospital and my dad went to open the door for me but I froze. I thought I would be able to handle it but, I wasn't ready. I was scared and for the first time in the last couple of weeks I felt like a 10-year old again.

"Sweetie, you okay?" My dad asked turning around holding the door in his left hand. "What's wrong?" He closed the doors and came over to me wrapping is arm around my shoulder.

"I thought I was ready." I looked into his blue eyes and started to feel myself calming down. "I think I can do it." I started walking into the building as my dad followed me. We stopped at the front desk and Dr. Grey walked up to us.

"Hey, it s the Shepherd's!" She came up to us hugging us both welcoming us back. "I missed you both." She stood against the desk waiting for us to answer.

"We missed you too." My dad responded holding a chart in one hand and the other on my shoulder. "Let's head up, Mae." He nudged me to start walking as Meredith starting walking with us. "Dr. Grey, do you mind staying with Mae today? It's just that its her first day back since the incident and I don't want her to be alone." He looked at Meredith on his left. She nodded smiling at me and taking my bag from off my shoulder.

"Have fun today, dad."  I said sitting down at his desk. "You're going to do great." I smiled as he walked out of the room.

"So, what's on the schedule today?" Meredith asked sitting at the chair in front of me. "Math, Science, English?" She smiled and I just laughed.

"Ha, no my dad said I could take it easy today. I've done a lot of school the past week so I can relax today." I smiedl and pulled up Netflix on my dad's computer. "I'm gonna watch some Supernatural."

"Oh, okay." She said pulling the chair over to the same side of the table. "Let's hang out then." She laughed and we both got comfy about to spend the rest of the day watching tv.

"This is going to be fun." I laughed swinging my legs over the side of the chair. "Glad to be back."
