Song - Death Should Not Have Taken Thee (English Cover) by JubyPhonic.

It's really cool, look it up!

Child don't follow me home.

You're just too perfect for my hands to hold.

If you choose to stay you'll throw it all away.

Wammy's was in a state of pure shock and sorrow. Of course, many students came and went as they aged, however, other than the incident in the budding days of the orphanage, never once had there been a death as vile and twisted as this one. It wasn't long before the entire house was buzzing, rumours spreading like wildfire, followed by the disgusted reactions of those who had been at the recieving end of the tales. The entire story hadn't been leaked, but there were variations of the events that were extraudinarily close. After all, it was a school for geniuses.

The sudden dissapearance of Matt, the depressing aura that was cast around the place, an even more snappy and withdrawn Mello than usual, it was easy to see what had happened. And damn, was it hard on them. Despite having not spoken to the boy in question much, and only aknowledging his presence, everyone was upset to see him go. They were a family. A huge dysfunctional family, and it just so happened that a treasured brother of theirs had passed away in such a vile, despicable way.

Roger called an emergency meeting about a week into the catatrophy, and feeling the silence consume the dining hall, everyone immediately knew the news that was about to be broken to them. Two seats remained untaken, sticking out like a sore thumb in the crowded room. Usually there would be laughter, or conversations galore in a gathering like this, but alas, the lack of sound was almost deadly in the air.

A few students recognised the empty positions as Mello and Near's, but didn't dare pry, knowing that those two - yes, even the albino - were the closest people to the redhead. It was logical that they would be moarning, or just didn't want to be reminded of what they had witnessed. Nevertheless, throughout the entire speech, they were missing.

Although, not one of them had questioned the lack of Watari. They suspected he was just investigating further with L, and dropped the subject completely. But if only they knew the truth. Their unbiological Father, the one who had cared for them and brought them up for as long as they could remember, was dead and wouldn't return. He would never be able to praise them for good marks, nor could he roll his eyes at their playfulness. It was only a matter of time until they put two and two together, though. Either that, or they would wait until his demise was spoken of by their new carer.

"Mello." Near spoke quietly, stood outside the locked door leading to the broken boy within. He knocked lightly, not mustering the strength for anything more energy consuming. He hadn't been able to sleep, even if that was a normal thing for him, it was different this time. Each time he so much as closed his eyes, he was just reminded of Matt's lifeless corpse. The blood splattered remains of Watari. The numb, painfilled body of Mello. He was ready to collapse at any moment now, and he knew it was going to be littered with memories he would rather push from his mind forever.

"Go away, Near." The whitette heard a cracked mumble from the opposite side, the voice vibrating against the door, signalling that the blonde in question was leaning against the white slab of wood. Near let out an exasperated sigh, sliding down the door tiredly. Mello hadn't left his room since it happened, not even to get food, which Near knew he had to deliver constantly. However, he knew how hard it must have been. He himself had been being haunted by it, so it must have been horrifying for Mello. After all, Matt was his best friend. He could only imagine the pain and desperaty.
