   4.

The Enemy

As we ran through infirmary door everybody was staring at us. "Hi," I said my sword still is drawn "Everything is okay."

There was a long loud boom outside. "AHHHHHHHH!!!!" screamed a small girl laying in a bed next to Fiona then she fainted.

"One down 50 more to go," said Tom.

"Tom! Don't!!" I said

"Why not?" asked Tom

"Because it sounds like you want them to faint," I said in a reasonable voice.

"I kind of do," said Tom

"Tom!" I said

"Tom! When I a strong enough, I'm going to challenge you to a duel!" said Flower, Tom's sister, then she fainted.

"Two down 49 more to go!" said Tom

"STOP it, Tom!!" I said, slightly raising my sword.

"Okay, Okay," said Tom

"Okay!" shouted a little girl, it was Zeke's sister, Cleo, "What is going on?!?"

"Ummm..." said me and Fiona together, as we looked at each other, "well..." we both said.

"There's... a... umm... dragon," I said flinching to the scream that came out of Cleo. I was surprised at how loud that scream was, she is so little.

"Don't worry, that are other campers that are taking care of it. It'll be over in a second," said Fiona, covering her ears, ready for another scream. Then a big 'boom' echoed through the camp also shaking the house. Three other people fainted. Man, I feel so bad for them, they are so weak and scared.

All the sudden Zeke came running in.

"The....... dragon....." he gasped "it's...... coming....." then he collapsed. About five more people fainted.

"Don't say it," I said in a warning tone to Tom.

"Okay, okay," said Tom, with a smile on his face.

"Get Out There!!!!" shouted Fiona, I just stood there with a worried look on my face.

'He's coming...' I thought 'The Shadow.'

"Cosmo!!!" shouted Fiona waving a hand in front of my face, "GO!!" I ran out the door, my heart was beating REALLY fast.

There it was... the dragon. It was big and green, like any other dragon. But the scales were caught my eyes. The scales were moving like rippling water, the scales kept changing colors too. Once they were green then they were blue-green then black then green again. It was confusing to look at.

"Cosmo!!" shouted Balthazar as he ran behind the infirmary, "Over here! That dragon is really dangerous. It is really hot. That is why it is changing colors."

"Oh boy!" I said sarcastically

"Cosmo, this is serious!" said Balthazar, "I shot an arrow at the dragon and it impaired off a scale on its stomach. I need you to stab your sword into that spot." he pointed to a tiny spot in the dragon's chest.

"Do you see it?" he asked

"Yes, I think" I answered. As I ran towards the dragon, it spat fire at me. I dodged it easily.

"Oh." said Balthazar "I forgot to mention that it breathes fire." he had a smile on his face.

"Reaallyy funny," I said as I ran to the dragon, it spat fire at me again, I rolled and then got back up and kept running. As I got closer to the dragon I could feel the heat coming off it.

"Don't touch it!! I hotter than fire!!"

"Then how do we kill it?!?" someone asked

"I'm working on it!!!!" I shouted back, "Just-Keep-fighting!!"

"Okay..." said a few campers, some said 'okay' with a troubled voice.

"Just trust me!!!!!!" I shouted that got them moving.

The dragon spit fire out at us.

"We gotta find out why it's attacking!" I shouted, I was trying really hard to get close to the dragon, and when I got a clear shot either someone walked in from of me or the dragon tried to hit me with one of its fireballs.

"That's it!!!!!!" I shouted, I ran over to Balthazar, who was dodging flying debris. "Balthazar!!" I shouted, "I can't do it!!" I ducked a flying and flaming log.

"Cosmo," he said, "you got to try,"

"I did," I complained, "you saw me try,"

"I know Cosmo," he sighed, I could tell he was getting a little, angry and agitated, "you must keep trying, you know the camp motto, you must never-"

"Give up..." I finished, "I know." I darted another flying and flaming log. I tried to think of why the dragon was attacking as I blocked and dodged blows from the dragon, was the dragon a female... I don't think so, I trained for this. I should know the difference between the female and male dragon, by their markings, and this one was a male. Was the dragon aggressive???? Not likely. It's not time for their mating season, and that's when they get aggressive. What is wrong with this dragon. I refused to believe that 'you know who' is controlling the dragon. I couldn't shake the feeling that 'you know who' was actually doing it. I ran over to Balthazar,

"Balthazar!!" I shouted, "could this be the doing of The Shadow?!??"
