Shiro's P.O.V.

I hear Lance's clock go off from inside his room which reminds me how late, or should I say early, it is. Tonight is my night to stay up late and watch guard. We've all been taking turns staying up all night ever since the Galra attacked us in the middle of the night. I never realized how quiet the castle can be without Lance and Keith's bickering, or Matt's puns, or Pidge's continuous lectures about how Coran could improve the castle's defenses. The castle is so quiet it kinda scares me. Its almost too quiet. Except for the sudden mumble coming from the control room. I open the door but it's all dark. All dark except for a small light coming from a door on the wall I've never noticed before. I hear the mumble again, it kinda sounds like Allura and is definitely coming from inside the room. The door is slightly open showing Allura standing in front of a screen.

"Can't you see father? She is the perfect paladin for it!"

"Yes Allura, she is perfect, but the time doesn't seem right."

"What do you mean father? Why not now?"

"Keeping Kayla a secret from Zarkon is crucial. If he EVER found out about her or The Wolf she could be is serious danger as well as you and the other paladins."

"Alright father, I'll wait a little longer. Goodnight, I'll talk to you again tomorrow night."

"Goodnight Allura. I love you."

So many questions are running through my head right now. Why is Allura talking to Alfor in the middle of the night? Who is Kayla? What is The Wolf? Why would we be in danger? Allura shuts off the screen sighs, and turns to leave. I quickly hide against the wall hoping she wouldn't see me. She walks out of the room, looks around and then walks out of the control room. I breathe a sigh of relief and walk into the room. I turn on the screen again to see what Allura was talking about with Alfor. The screen flickers on and I see four girls sitting in a booth at what I'm guessing is a diner. Are they on earth? No, they can't be. But they have to! The other paladins are the only other humans I've seen out her in space. Plus I don't think any space mall would have a diner that looks like this. One of the girls has short, light brown hair and is looking a her phone. The girl sitting next to her looked like she was African-American and had her black hair in a small bun. On the opposite side of them sat a girl with very short black hair that was bleached at the bangs, and the girl sitting next to her had her dark brown hair in two French braids that were dyed light blue at the tips. I raised the volume to hear what they were saying.

"So Kayla," said the girl with light brown hair.

"Yes, Jamie?" answered the girl with blue tips.

So that's Kayla.

"What's the whole deal with you and Lucas hm? Care to share?" Jamie says wiggling her eyebrows.

"Yeah Kayla," the African-American smiled, "we all wanna know."

"And we're all gonna find out sooner or later," the last girl said poking Kayla in the arm.

"Alright! Okay!" Kayla laughed. "I like him. He likes me. We aren't a thing yet."

"Dammit," Jamie pounded the table, "y'all are so cute together though!"

"But," Kayla put up her hand to silence her, "I heard that he may ask me out on Friday."

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Jamie squeals. "I can't believe this is actually gonna happen!"

"Okay, okay!" Kayla laughs. "Calm down."

"Well I totally agree with Jamie," says the African-American, "I ship you guys too."

"Shut up Anaya!" Kayla blushes.

"What? It's true! You two were made for each other!"

"Ugh can you guys just stop? I'm trying not to think about Friday because I know I'm gonna get really embarrassed if he asks me out!"

"Even in private?" the girl with black hair asks.

"Yes, even in private." Kayla sighs.

I suddenly hear footsteps coming towards the control room. I quickly turn off the screen and sneak out the door, hoping whoever is coming won't see me. I hear them enter the room. I cling close to the wall and slowly make my way to the door. Just as I am about to leave, I hear the person sigh. It's Allura.

"Oh father, what am I going to do. I need your guidance. Please help me."

I quickly leave before she notices I'm there and I hear more than I need to. As I pass by everyone's rooms, I hear Lance's clock go off and realize I should've gone to bed an hour ago, and that I'll probably sleep in tomorrow. But I know I won't get any sleep tonight. With everything that I learned tonight, and all the questions that are still swimming in my brain it'll be hard to sleep. But as I lay down I there is one thought that sticks in my mind:

No one must know about ANYTHING I learned tonight.

A couple weeks later:

It's been a couple of weeks since I first overheard Allura and Alfor talking about Kayla. Ever since then, I've taken up every opportunity I can to do the night shift to watch guard so I can eavesdrop on Allura and Alfor and learn more about Kayla. So far what I've learned is that there is this robot similar to the lions, but it's a wolf and it's more powerful than Voltron so if Zarkon learns about it and somehow obtains it, we could all be doomed. And Kayla is apparently the paladin of the Grey Wolf, but she lives on earth and has a normal, regular life so if she suddenly went missing it would be a HUGE deal, so Allura is waiting until the right time to get her to join us. But to be honest from what I've seen from watching Kayla on the screen, she looks like an amazing person and would be a great addition to our team.

Hey guys! So this is my first time writing a story here on Wattpad. I hope y'all like it! I'll try to update every two weeks but I have a lot going on right now. It may take me longer or shorter to upload depending on what I have to do each week or what content I put in each chapter. Again thank you for reading! Enjoy!
