Noun- Person, place or thing(or idea)
Ex- Pablo,lamp,world peace

Verb- Action word
-to do= verb/ex: to love, to hate, to rate

Adjective- Describing words/Describes a noun
Ex- red ball(noun)

Adverb- Describes a verb, adjective, or a noun
  -Usually can tell if a word is an adverb if it has a LY at the end

If you can put 'The, a, or an' it's a noun

Sentence- A group of words which form a complete thought but it's punctuated like a sentence

Ex for Fr- "I like..."

Tone: Authors attitude towards his or her subject

Mood: The feeling the reader gets/experiences from the authors tone

Characterization: The act of developing a character
(Direct Characterization- the author tells a reader about a character

Indirect characterization- The author tells you about a character using the other characters)

Theme: The central message or centeral idea of the story. A thread that runs through the whole story

Compound predicate- bold

Personification - Giving human characteristics to an animal, inanimate onjexy, or an onstract idea
Ex: The desk groaned under Mr.Blanco's weight

Flashback- A moment in a story the details a past event
Ex: The Five People You Meet in Heaven

In medias Res- A Latin phrase that means 'In the middle of things' / a story that starts in the middle
