Author's Note:
In my head, To Be One feels like a journey, an adventure, and with that, I wanted to corporate songs that I think will suit some chapters as you leaf through the pages of this story. Also, I wanted to deeply share that I envision To Be One as an anime, and when we talk about animes, opening and ending themes is part of it. Therefore, I wanted to share that the first opening theme of To Be One is the song called "Sorrow in the box" by Acid.Chapter 1: The Beginning
Dusk came whilst the sun slowly retreated to its slumber. The busy people crowd the city, going to and from their destinations. That includes the students, just waiting for the bell to ring, and the class to end.
"Finally!" a lass with long blonde caramel hair sighed. "It's the weekend!
'The number of schoolwork keeps piling up. It's being a pain in the you know... ass. I wish I could watch my favorite TV series but, the devils in the form of educators might end me through my report cards. A student needs a break too, you know. I really really... I really need a loooong vacation after all of this cursed schoolwork!' She thought lazily as she was busy putting all of her things inside her backpack.
"Pearl?... Hey Pearl? Pearl!"
"What?! Stop shouting at me. I can hear you, you know!" The girl named Pearl frowned, facing her friend Jade. She frowned back at her while cleaning her reading glass to see her clearly.
"How can I not shout at you when I've been calling you for like, a thousand times?" Her brows furrow in dissatisfaction while her dark, curly hair that's been tied into a ponytail swayed back and forth in her slight movement. Her fair complexion complimented her intelligent looks along with those thick glasses she was wearing. "You okay? You've been spacing out for a while now. What were you thinking? You look... horrible."
"Thanks for the compliment, Jade." Pearl rolled her eyes at her for calling out her looks. "I'm good. I'm just thinking of the mountains of homework. I don't know which one to do first! Should I work on the essays? Or do the reasoning in our Statistics? Or maybe our daily schedule of the Physical fitness program? God, then there are also exams next week. But who am I to complain? We signed up for this as scholar students." She scoffed, picking up her remaining belongings, and placing them all back in her backpack.
Jade only laughed along with the other students which made her frown further. Her eyes drifted towards the mischievous red-head male who tends to make fun of everything he hears.
'That bastard, Yujin.'
"What's so funny?" She asked, narrowing her eyes at him. The red-head only jumped when she called him out, smiling nervously at her. His right hand reached his usual messy short undercut hairstyle, which gave way to his prominent tan skin, and bulky physique.
"Hey now. Don't look at me like that. You're scaring me and your scholarship away." It fumed Pearl after hearing Yujin's playful banter. She quickly turned to Jade, gazing at her to help her out.
"Jade! Say something!" She whined.
The girl whom she called friend only laughed at her. "You two never stop, huh?" She giggled, with Yujin snickering without a care in the world.
"Let them be. Those two will never run out of energy especially when they are together. They complement each other." A deep voice interrupted the conversation, making all of them turn to the owner of the voice. A tall man with dark raven hair, cut right below his chin with a fair complexion and a beautiful smirk painted on his lips.
'Noctis. My beloved Noctis!!!' Pearl screamed silently.
"Wait! Don't compare me to that pea-brain over there. We are nothing alike!" Then she scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest whilst gazing at the man.
