Emma

I slowly opened my eyes and groaned. Beads of lights were shifting through the blinds, causing my eyes to flinch open. I turned over to see Jamal facing me. I smiled and placed a slopy kiss on the top of his big ass forehead.

"Morning big head" I smiled.

Jamal scrunched his face and instantly wiped my kiss from his forehead. "Damn Emma, chill with that big ass tongue."

"Hmmm but that's not what you were saying last night though." I mumbled.

A goofy grin wiped across Jamal's face as he smiled back at me,

"Morning uglah." Jamal gave me a passionate kiss but suddenly pulled away and held his head.

"My head hurt like a bitch." he hissed, sitting up from the bed.

"Thats 'cause yo ass got white girl wasted last night at DeAndre's party last night." I chuckled.

Jamal frowned and started to run his hands through my hair. I quickly jerked away, he wasn't finna mess up my freshly done leave out.

"Stop I just got this done." I whined, whacking his hand away

"It's a little crunchy bae" Jamal chuckled, trying to touch the strands of hair.

"Them toes a little crunchy." I responded, after socking him in the chest.

"Damn always with the hitting shit." He groaned rubbing his chest.

"That's what yo ass get for talkin shit. You should be glad you ain't got practice today, yo ass be out there on the court looking like Jabari."

"Ion like that bitch nigga Jabari. He gone be the reason we lose this season. Ole' butter finger headass" Jamal remarked.

Jabari was the power forward for the Atlanta Hawks, he had gotten drafted just a year ago. Everyone knew he was utilized for his height, considering he was almost 7'2. But the ball just never stayed in his hands.

"Sometimes I picture you and David running up and down the court together. I miss y'all playing together." I remarked quietly, just enough to where he could here me.

Jamal bit his tongue and rested his back on the headboard. I knew this was touchy subject for Jamal. David and him had been drafted together and been playing for years. Even before the NBA.  When Deja died and David left the NBA, Jamal considered leaving too. But stayed, after David reminded him how hard he'd work for it.

"I know he miss it. That nigga worked his ass off to get where he was, then Deja-" Jamal stopped, biting his tongue.

"I remember it like it was yesterday." I remarked softly, somewhat finishing his sentence for him. Jamal slowly nodded his head while playing with both of his thumbs. There was a strong moment of silence between the both of us.

"Mia finally adjusting to Atlanta? She looked a bit- ion know? Like scary and shit when she got here." Jamal questioned, changing the subject.

I shook my head in agreement. Mia had been staying with us for almost a month now and still had this hesitant demeaner about her. Like something was slightly off. Every time she got home from work she would exchange a couple words then shut herself in her room. I tried making conversation with her a vast amount of times, though it never got very far.

"I thought I was the only one who peeped that shit. It was like she took on a whole new persona. Back in high school you couldn't tell Mia nothin." I smiled as memories of my high school years started to flood back into my head.
