Luca steps out of the taxi, thanking the driver quickly and quietly before giving him too much won for his ride. The driver attempts to stop him and give him his change. Luca shuts the car door and runs into the busy street.
"I have a feeling tho was a bad idea..." Luca says to himself.
A high school boy bumps into him and mutters something indescribable to Luca. Luca walks the same way as the crowd in confusion. He stops and taps a small business man on the shoulder.
Luca tried his best to use his translation app.
He tried his best to ask where a cheap hotel is but the man couldn't understand him.
"Are you trying to asku me someting?" The man asks in a Korean accent.
"Thank god you understand me," Luca says thankfully, "do you know where the cheapest hotel is?"
"Oh, yes I do, take a right then a left and go straightu and you will see a run downu building, walk in and ask how much the owner will help you!" The man says cheerfully before turning around and walking away.
Luca follows his directions and walks into the building.
"Hello?" Luca asks while wandering around the foyer.
About thirty seconds later he hears the sounds of a cane clacking against the smooth concrete floor.
"Ah- urm, anyeong?" Luca asks remembering the little Korean Nani taught him.
"You are not foreign to this country, I can tell," a small man says.
"N- no," Luca replies, "I need a cheap room,"
"I see, I have what you want," the man continues, "how long will your sat be?"
"Just one week," Luca says, holding up seven fingers.
I see!" The man says looking up from behind the counter he lead Luca to, "That will be 61255.04 won please!"
Luca hands out an amount far too much than what the man asked, "Here, I think this is it..."
The elderly man smiled and deducted what he asked for, giving Luca the remainder, " My name is Sung Min, here is your room key," Sung Min says as his frail hands open to show a cheaply made key.
Luca smiles and accepts the key, turning around to see a flight of stairs leading up to the hotel rooms. Luca bows to Sung Min and heads up the stairs to his room.
As Luca looks around the hotel he sees that the doors do not only have Korean numerals but also English ones as well. The tag on his key says room 5, Mr. Sung Min must not get a lot of business around here, Luca says to himself.
Luca finds his room on the first floor, and opens it. It looks sterile so far. Luca drops his luggage on the bed and slips his key into his back pocket. He sits on the bed and analyzes his surroundings. A TV, small kitchenette, the bed, and the be side table with a telephone on top of it seem to be the only things making up the room, save a few paintings and a window.
After resting for a bit Luca dashes out of the room, closing the door behind him and speed walks into the busy street. He readies his translation app on his phone so he an efficiently speak to the locals.
As Luca moves around the city, getting used to the massive flow of people, he spots that most of the signs outside of the shops he passes have American names on them.
Maybe I can get a job in one of these shops to increase my money flow, I cant rely on my father whenever I need something...
Luca stops a few more people as he walks in the street but none of them seem o have known about a limousine passing by in the streets. Luca apologizes and continues.
He doesn't get far but he finds out a little bit, The Limo seemed to be heading to A mansion in a more urban sprawl of the city.
Luca lays down and covers his eyes with his arm in frustration. He can't blame the people of the city for not paying attention to the street, they all have things they need to do.
Luca is interrupted by his thinking with a knocking on the door, "It's Sung Min," a voice says through the door.
Luca heaves up from the bed and opens the door to reveal the elderly man holding a tea set.
"I have a deal for you," the man says, "I will let you stay here if you work for me,"
Luca turns to the man and looks at him with disbelief, "You've only known me for a few hours, I haven't even told you my name."
The man chuckles and continues on, "I am not as young and handsome as I used to be, The fact that you are quite the looker and are fluent in English would be more than enough to attract more people to my hotel," Sung Min says, holding a tea cup.
"I will think about it, Mr. Sung Min," Luca says, placing his cup down on the tray.
"Just call me Sung Min, and I will leave if you need, I can tell you need your peace and quiet."
Luca appreciates Sung Min's thoughtfulness and nods. Sung Min quietly closes the door behind him. Luca opens up his luggage bag and walks into the small bathroom to get changed, he turns on the TV and sits on the bed as he brushes his teeth.
He looks at the subtitles in English as the TV reporter talks in Korean.
Luca looks at the subtitles more carefully after he sees something about the limo that passed through the city. What he sees next makes him drop his tooth brush on the Bed as he scrambles in front of the TV.
