Angel's Lie

I try and bring her peace
And the idea of coming closure
To tell her it will be ok
Especially if I hold her closer

I prattle on in innocence
Blind to her whispering demons
While she fosters the thirsty knives
Of her own private reflections

They are slicing away her soul
Wearing her down and down and down
Even as I try to keep her
From falling to the ground

She is fading, wilted
Leaden, In my loving shaking arms
Her hopeless eyes pity me
As I promise to keep her safe from harm

For while my heart speaks truly
She knows it is an Angel's lie
The core of her was burnt and buried
When her sister left to die
