More Than Friends

Charlie gripped Selena's hand tight. He swung his arm back and forth, causing hers to swing too. She giggled, which made Charlie smile broadly.

They were strolling through the park. Selena's brown eyes wandered around and took in all the sights that the park had to offer, that warm fall afternoon. Charlie stared at his beautiful girlfriend. She had no makeup on and her natural curls bounced around her shoulders. Charlie smiled. He pulled her over.They were standing under a tree now. Leaves fell all around them. "What is it?" Selena asked, wondering why Charlie had stopped their romantic stroll. "Close your eyes." Charlie answered simply. Selena did. When Charlie told her to open them again, she gasped. Charlie had laid a necklace in her hands. He smiled and picked it up. He unhooked the 'best friends' necklace that was hanging around her neck. He clipped the new necklace on. Selena grinned and tried to read what was engraved on the small pendant."What does it say?" she asked. "'More than friends.'" Charlie said, shyly. Selena gasped. "Charlie..." she said, tears in her eyes. She hugged him tight. "That's amazing." she whispered in his ear. He pulled out of the hug. "There's more." he said. "More?" Selena laughed. Charlie nodded. He unhooked her necklace again and took it off. He held it up. Selena noticed that his hands were shaking. He looked really nervous. He pointed to the pendant."Do you see how it's a locket?" he asked, trying to keep his voice steady. Selena smiled. Charlie was really cute when he was nervous.She nodded. Charlie took a deep breath to calm his nerves and clicked the locket open. Selena chocked on air. "Oh my God!" she said, unable to fight her tears. "Is this for real?"

Charlie nodded fast and lifted a tiny ring from inside the locket. Selena let the tears fall down her cheeks as Charlie dropped down on one knee. "Will you marry me?" he asked. Selena was crying so much that she couldn't answer. She smiled

down at Charlie through her tears. He looked really nervous now. "Say yes." he said, voice trembling. "Yes!" Selena burst out. Charlie sighed with relief. Selena couldn't stop smiling as she grabbed him and kissed him. They pulled away after a long time. They kept each other close, their noses touching gently. "I love you," Charlie whispered. "I love you too." Selena said. They kissed again.
