6-year-old Selena Gomez walked into kindergarten without a care in the world. But she cared when Alex, the bully, grabbed her backpack which knocked her down. "Hey!" she yelled. "Give me that back!" she reached for it, but Alex moved it away from her. He laughed. "Why? Does it have your diapers in it?"

No, Selena thought. It has my special necklace in it. Selena could feel hot tears filling her eyes and her cheeks reddened. "NO!" she yelled, leaping at Alex. "I-" But a pair of big arms grabbed her. It was the teacher, Mr. Maxwell. "Now now settle down. No bullying at this school." He carried Selena over to a chair and dropped her in it. Alex laughed evilly and slung Selena's backpack over his shoulder. "No bullying. Do I make myself, clear, young lady?" He asked her. Selena swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded. "Great." Mr. Maxwell smiled and went back to his desk. Selena sat there, wanting to say something but finding that no words came, only tears. With her small hand she wiped them away. She sat with one elbow on the table, propping her head up, eyes down.

"Now," said Mr. Maxwell. "I'd like to set some guidelines. First off, no bullying. We've had trouble with that already." He lowered his cold stare to Selena's face. Her big brown eyes were filled with hurt, confusion, anger, sadness and all the emotions all at the same time.

When she was, Selena's would scoop Selena onto her lap and remind her that life isn't always fair but now Selena knew what her mom meant. She knew how it felt now. And it didn't feel good! Unwanted tears ran down her cheeks. She lowered her head farther and farther down so that no one would see her crying.

The sound of the door opening made her look up. "Ah," Mr. Maxwell said, pushing his glasses up his nose. He looked at his class attendance sheet. "Are you Charlie Puth?" Selena could see the small boy nodding. "Excellent." Mr. Maxwell said. "You can sit next to Selena Gomez." He pointed at her. Selena ducked her head low again to hide her wet cheeks.

Charlie came over and sat next to her. "Uh, hi." he said. Selena ignored him. She didn't want to talk to anyone right now. Charlie shrugged and opened a little blue notebook. He began scratching away at the paper. Selena found her eyes wandering the page. HE was drawing dogs. She loved dogs!

She bit her lip, willing herself not to say anything. But Charlie noticed her staring. "Do you like dogs?" he asked, trying to see her face which was hiding behind a mess of bouncy curls. She didn't answer him. She was never going to talk to him. EVER.

Charlie looked confused for a second then continued his drawing.
