What's worse than a broken heart?

It is hearing songs that will remind you of all the wonderful things you had,

It is seeing happy people and smiling at them even if you're dying inside,

It is going home realizing you aren't really home at all,

It is holding your phone even when you have no one to call,

It is the night when you cannot help but cry,

It is the endless cycle of asking why,

What's worse than a broken heart is watching it shatter into much smaller pieces.

And what makes it more difficult is when you know you can't make it whole again.
