Just Not There

Her feelings for him just wouldn't go away. 

In the beginning, she was able to keep them at bay.

But then he would tear her walls down.

Then when she struck, he made her feel like a clown.

She was hurt and crying for months,

But she didn't blame him, no, not once.

She finally got over it, but kept always kept it in her mind,

So that she could remember the naive girl she left behind.

She overcame the humility she was forced to face

"It's better to leave than to be replaced."

She became stronger, smarter and grew up quick,

Soon learning there was nothing she couldn't kick.

No more was she gullible, stupid or sweet.

She set up walls from the Heavens to her feet.

The walls were so thick even she couldn't break them,

Not letting anyone in to see her inner ge
