Kaneki's eyes widen, as he tried to deny it. "N-no, I don't know what you're talking about."
Mitsuki chuckled, as she twirled a piece of her hair around her finger. "You're a bad liar, Kaneki-kun."
"Fine, fine. Just call me Kaneki by the way," He gave Mitsuki a warm smile, as it quickly faded. "How do you know about that?"
"You remember that night she tried to eat you, right? Replay that scene again in your mind. Was it only you and Rize there? Or was there someone else?"
He went silent, dazed as Mitsuki waited for an answer. She was determined to hear his answer, she knew it was him. All of the clues pointed that Kaneki was that other boy who was there with her. Who risked his life to try and save hers, but they both lost an organ. But how did both of them survive?
"...Yes..." Kaneki stopped for a moment, remembering another part that was too fuzzy for Mitsuki to remember. "It wasn't just Rize that was with us. It was someone else...but I can't quite remember who that is. If that other person wasn't there, they could've decided which one to save. Me, or you." He warmly smiled at Mitsuki, surprised the girl in front of him was someone who he risked his life for.
"Luckily, they didn't have to make that decision." Mitsuki swiped her finger against the napkin, as she looked up at him. "I don't think I ever said this to you, but..."
"Thank you, Kaneki."
