~Camara~
I was still shooken up about the sight that I saw. I couldn't believe Adarius would do soemthing like this. Those three woman looked like they've been through hell and back. I sighed softly to myself before hearing the vibration of my phone on the nightstand. I came from under the sheets and looked to see who it was, and I never would have guessed it. Adarius was texting me and asking what I was doing.
When I read his text, my whole body just froze. I felt like a statue. For some reason, I couldn't move and while I was staring at the now black screen since my phone went off. I was afarid to text him back but then again something was pushing me to pick up the phone. I quickly took it off the dresser and turned it back on. I texted him back saying "Nothing" before pressing send.
It was about two minutes later that he texted back saying "You didn't runaway from home or anything?" . I looked at the message confused as to why he would even ask me that. Even though he knew about my situation at home, it was almost out of the ordinary. I became paranoid. I felt like he knew that I knew something was up but he didn't want to bluntly ask me. I texted back saying "Nah I'm laying down in bed texting you now" He didn't respond after that message so I set my phone back on the nightstand.
The sun came beaming through my curtains, waking me up hours after texting Adarius. When I checked my phone, there was still no reply. A bang at my door startled me. I got out of bed and put on my slippers before opening it.
"I see you are up Camara" My mom said while walking away from the door. She looked very tired and worn out. I didn't see Darnell anywhere. He must've been called into work finally. I felt like he has been laid off for far way to long. I closed my door and went to look through ym drawers for something to wear. My phone vibrated once again but it wasn't Adarius, it was Priscilla.
*Text Messages*
"Hey boo! Just wanted to know if you wanted a ride to school"
"Sure! But who are you riding with now?"
"Adarius! We got back together after he got his whole ex thing situated"
I didn't text her back after I read that message. Adarius is back with Priscilla, after I almost poured my whole heart out to this guy. I sighed and shook my head. My whole preception of Adarius was fully changing right now. One minute I think of him as this hostile gang banger then the next I think of him as this sweet and down to earth guy that loves to dance.
*Text Messages*
"So do you want a ride or nah?"
"Pris! you need to get away from him....he's dangerous"
"What the hell are you talking about Camara?"
"Just listen to me...he's not the guy you think he is"
"If you're trying to break us up just to have him to yourself, then you can just forget it. Bye Camara!"
I stared at the message for almost five minutes before realizing I only had about 3 minutes to get ready. The bus was on it's way. My mom kept banging at my door but I ignored her. There was to much going through my mind right now. I was almost a minute late when the bus finally came. I got a seat in the back and slouched down.
When the bus finally arrieved at the front of the school, I was the last to get out. I saw Adarius eyeing me from afar. He looked mad about something or suspicious. I bit my lower lip while walking in a fast pace towards the steps. He didn't move from his spot. i had a feeling Priscilla and her big mouth had told him what I told her. As soon as I got to my locker, i quickly changed the books from out of bag that I didn't need and put them into the locker. I kept looking around to see if I could spot Adarius anywhere but he was nowhere to be found.
The bell rung and I was zooming in and out of spaces in bewteen people just to get to class. When I turned the corner, Adarius was in my face. I thought my heart was going to jump out of chest at this moment.
"Um...hey" I said quietly while looking down. I couldn't face him. All he did was scare the hell out of me.
"Why you been avoiding me ?" He asked almost gritting his teeth together. He looked like he went through a horrible phase.
"I..un...texted you but you never replied back"
"I was busy, but I was talking about you hitiching a ride with Me and Priscilla"
"The bus was good enough for me"
"She told me what you said"
My heart damn nearly dropped when he said that. I had no idea why I even told her about Adarius. All she does is repeat what people tell her.
"I was just spazzing out on her. It was nothing"
"Do you know something about me Camara...don't lie"
"No...I don't. Why would you even think that?" I asked trying to play the innocent card. He was eyeing me like I was a fresh piece of meat.
"Well from what she told me, you said I was dangerous"
"I told you I was just spazzing out on her" He put both his hands on my shoulders and pushed me up against the wall.
"Look me in my eye and tell me if you know something about me"
I couldn't bare to look at him, but if I didn't, he would've known I was lying. I slowly picked my head up to meet his eyes.
"I do not know anything about you Adarius. Trust me" I said, hoping he would believe me. He then took both his hands off my shoulders and walked away. I sighed in relief before looking at the clock. He made me fucking late. I rushed to my chemistry class.
"Ms.Lowe, you are late!" Mr. Ford told me while pointing to my empty seat. Everyone of course was snickering, even Priscilla. She was really starting to get on my nerves now. She has changed so much this school year, I feel like I don't even know her anymore.
As I stared out the window I was sitting by, I could see a guy standing outside, leaning up against a tree. When I looked very closely at him, he almost looked like Dauntrell. I almost had to look three times in order to confirm it. When I looked for the third time he was gone. I couldn't believe my eyes. When I looked back up at the board, it was covered in equations and notes that I missed. I took out my notebook and quickly copied every single thing he had up there before he erased it.
