OK! First of all I must warn non-geeks there is a GeekFest coming up. It is short, but sweet too. Originally writing this chapter I took their relationship too far too fast and decided to back off for a chapter or two...don't want to give too much away. But I am happy with the way it turned out.
There is something that happens towards the end of the chapter that will help you understand Jake's issues with God, church and the wall he has built up. This will carry over for the next few chapters as well.
I hope you enjoy reading. If you do, please comment.

Chapter 10
Psalm 20: 1-5 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.
Jake was going to pick me up around 10:00. And sure enough he was right, around 9:30 it began to rain. He came in to say hello before we left. Dr. Gilcrest tried to find out our plans, but all Jake would say was that it was something I mentioned that would be great on a rainy day. And that he had been waiting for a rainy Saturday to have enough time to get everything in.
Then he looked at my mother, "I will have her home before curfew."
"Thank you Jake. You kids have fun today!"
When we got in the car, I leaned over and gave him a quick kiss and said, "I like your shirt." He was wearing a very vintage Star Wars shirt with Luke and Princess Leah and the rest of the original characters. I think it may have been an original for his father back in the 1970's or 80's.
"Thanks," He said. Then he looked at me very inquisitively. "Grace, are you a traditionalist or a realist?"
"I don't know...what you do mean?"
When it comes to things like, I don't know, Star Wars...are you a realist and start with 1 or are you a traditionalist and start with 4?"
"Oh, I guess I am a realist. I like to start at the beginning, the way it was originally written and not the order it was recorded." I said.
"Interesting. What is your favorite episode?" He asked.
"New Hope...4, without a doubt!"
"Really? But you start at 1?"
"Yes! I don't want to start in the middle! Where would you start?"
"With one as well."
"What episode is YOUR favorite?"
"I like the action of 2. The fight sequence when they are against the various creatures in the colloseum."
"I could see that. You liked action last night on the football field!! Have I told you yet that you were amazing?"
"No, I think we were a bit distracted by Jenny and her cheerleader hit squad! And then you attacking me."
"I did not attack you, I kissed you. There IS a difference!" We both laughed. About that time I realized he was taking me to his house. "Did you forget something?"
"No."
"But, we are going to your house."
"Yep."
