People gave Max weird looks as this guy he'd never known brings him to a huge building. It wasn't as big as the ones with the coloured roofs, but it was bigger than his house at home.
Home.
He completely forgot about his dad. He wanted to, so much, but his dad would kill him if he knew where Max was.
The man led him into the house. He was kind of scared. What would they do to him? He had knocked Dawn to the ground with fire. This was all a lot to take in, even for his creative and open mind.
The house was fairly normal. Besides the big counter. It was almost like an office.
"Come in, Maxwell." The man said. "Please, take a seat."
Max walked up to the chair across the desk and slowly sat down. As he sat down, he sank into his chair. It was made of memory foam or something, and with a leather covering. It was kind of awkward at first but he found a comfortable position.
"Am... am I in trouble?" He asked.
The man laughed. "In trouble? Oh, no. You are most certainly not in trouble." He looked at Max with a kind smile. He had green eyes. The first person he'd seen with green eyes in the camp, actually.
He continued to talk. "You, Maxwell Pines, have been anticipated for a long time now. We have most certainly been expecting you."
Max gave him a weird look. "That's what the door-gate thing said too. But, it didn't really seem like a welcoming. A punch in the face and people trying to fight me? And... how long was I out?"
The man's look became a little weary. "It was not expected for you to be punched. Maybe Lady Dawn was scared of someone following her."
Max was a little offended, but decided to brush it off. "Wait, Lady Dawn? And I still don't know your name."
The man smiled again. "We use the terms 'Lady' or 'Sir' for our combat chiefs. Dawn is one of those combat chiefs. Pretty spectacular, I must say," The guy looked at Max with a smirk, and Max was off in his own world again, making it obvious he liked Dawn. The man started again, "And as for my name..." he gave a little suspense to his reveal.
"I am Andreas. I am the camp coordinator, but I'm more like everyone's... second dad, I guess" He said with a smile. Just hearing the name Andreas signified Power. It gave Max a chill down his spine.
"So... Andreas, what exactly is any of this?" Max asked.
Andreas looked a little tired. "It will all come in time, but I suppose I can tell you the basics now." He shifted in his chair, ready to tell Max everything he needed to know.
"This, is Camp Zodiac. We all have Zodiac signs, or "horoscopes" if you will. You were born in the month of March, correct?"
Max nodded. He was a March baby. March 15th exactly.
"Alright, and you're fire. So that means you're an Aries."
Max knew the name Aries. Fantasy and mythology books were his life, how would he not know? Aries was the god of war. Was that a good thing for him?
"You may have noticed the dorms outside, right?" Andreas asked.
Max nodded again. He had seen the coloured roofs too, though he wondered what they were for."The coloured roofs represent the elements. You're fire, so you'd be in the fire dorm. The one with the red roof."
Max was processing what he had learned so far. He still had so many questions.
"What exactly is the camp for?" Max asked. Andreas seemed delighted to tell him.
"This camp is for all those people out there who aren't accepted, or the exceptional. Their elemental powers could be a part of it."
Max was starting to understand, though it was still very foreign.
"Do you mind explaining the other elements?" He asked.
"The elements are fire, water, earth, and air. That explains the roofs and eye colour."
Max's eye colour was orange, like fire. And Dawn's was blue like water.
"What about your eye colour? They're green."
"The reason my eyes are green are because I'm a hybrid element. I'm actually a Capricorn, which is earth. But my parents were water and air. My element is nature, or life. Which ever you like to call it." Andreas exclaimed. "Hybrid elements are fairly rare, but are possible. You'll learn more in your biology classes."
Max immediately jumped. "My what!?" He thought this was a summer camp, where he didn't need to learn anything, much less go to class.
Andreas noticed Max's surprise. "Don't worry, you won't be in any classes for the next week. You are new here after all. And they aren't hard, and they aren't frequent. You should be fine."
That calmed Max down a little. "Okay, now what should I do?"
"Well, go meet your cabin mates I guess. Look around. We will be having dinner soon however, so don't take too long."
Max stood up and walked to the door. "Thank you, Andreas." He said.
Andreas looked at him. "Your welcome, Maxwell Pines."
