I searched everywhere for my dad, but couldn't find him anywhere. I looked in every room  I could think of, but I couldn't find him anywhere.  I walked in the living room in thought, as I saw him sitting in on the couch, reading a book.  He flipped the page in silence as he cleared his voice.  Roen walked into the room, but walked down the hall without a word. I sighed silently, as I walked closer to dad.  I ended up walking up to the couch but didn't say a word.  "You ready to talk?" he asked, knowing that it was me.  How'd he know I was there?  "Yes" I said with a slight nod, even though he couldn't see what I was doing.  The room became quiet, as the wind outside brushed against the house.  It pushed against the windows with a gust, as it shook the house a bit.  I stood patently waiting until dad told me to.  He finally put his marker in his book, as he cleared his voice again.  "Please, have a seat" he said, as he shifted in his.  I carefully walked over to the couch and sat down next to him, but didn't face him.

"You look uncomfortable" was the first thing he said to me.  I huffed as I shifted towards him, and put my feet up on the couch.  At that point, I was finally ready to talk.  "Ok, now I'm ready" I said giving my full attention. I was expecting him to yell at me, but he didn't.  He cleared his voice as he looked down.  He looked like he was trying to figure out where to start.  "Ok, I think I'll start by telling you about how you ended up on earth" he said,  as he cleared his voice. I just sat there, waiting, preparing for what was coming my way. He looked up as he sighed, looking like it was painful to talk about.  "So grampy knew you were coming and he knew how powerful you were going to be.  He wanted to take you away from me, so I put you on earth on a random porch, which happened to be Ritska's mother's home" he said, then stopped to look at me. I looked at him in confusion.

At this point, no one said anything.  I think he was waiting for me to speak.  I cleared my voice as I spoke.  "So, Grampy wanted to kill me then?"   Dad stayed silent, then shrugged.  "I don't know for sure, and I didn't want to take a chance."  I nodded to accept that being true, but it was all so confusing.  "Ok, so why didn't you come back for me?"  "I was too dangerous at the time." he said, as he looked at the ground.  I gave him another funny look. "At the time?" I asked with a laugh.  Dad didn't chuckle, but he did crack a smile.  We ended  up sitting there in silence, because I didn't know what to ask him.  I looked at the floor, trying to think of something.  I ended up looking at him with curiosity.  "Dad, why do you keep kidnapping me?" I asked him, hoping that I wasn't asking too much.  Dad sighed before he answered.  He took longer than ever with the answer to the question.

Dad looked at the floor, while taking deep breaths.  It looked like he was getting ready to cry.  He took a deep breath before he spoke.  I could tell that the question was hurting him a bit.  Finally he lowered his head, and spoke. "Vampires want you dead. I don't quite trust the people in the world either. So I'm trying to protect you" he said, as he studied the floor in silence.  It looked like he was about to cry, but he didn't seem to be the person to cry.  I sat there in silence, as I started to study the floor as well.  What he just told me was a lot to take in, and parts of me wasn't ready for it.  I had only one more question, but I didn't know what he was going to say.  I took a deep breath as I prepaid myself to ask, knowing it was worth a shot.

"Dad, what happened to mom?" I asked, as he glared at me, when I said it.  "What do you mean?" he asked, confused by the question.  I huffed before I spoke.  "Did she die? Or did something else happened to her?"   Dad looked at me quickly.  I couldn't explain the look he gave, but I knew that it wasn't a good one.  "Before I answer that, I wana let you know that your allowed to hate me or do what you want after.  But your mother's dead" he said as he paused for a minute or two.  I stayed silent knowing he wanted to say more.  He turned towards me as he looked me dead in the eye.  "Ella, I killed your mother" he said in a serious tone.  I looked at him in shock, but I wasn't mad at him for doing it.  I didn't know my mom.  "Alright, can I ask why  you killed her?"  Dad looked at me while I noticed his eyes looking glossy.  "Cause she wanted to kill you.  She knew how much trouble a devil child was, and she didn't want to risk it.  So she told me that she was going to kill you.  I couldn't stop her, so I killed her" he said, keeping his tone calm.

I looked at him in shock, speechless and trying to find the words to say.  I was taken so long to find them, that I couldn't. "So, is that why you keep after me? Why you keep me locked up?"  Dad nodded in silence. I could tell that he was having a hard time keeping from crying, which I never seen him cry.  Dad looked at the floor while he sniffled a bit.  "I couldn't watch you die, not then, and not now.  You and grampy are the only family I have left" he said, in mid sob.  I didn't know what to do, so I just said the first thing that came to mind.  "Do you want to be alone?" I asked him, as I started to get up. When I turned,  I felt a tight hand grip my wrist.  I turned to looked at dad in confusion.  Before I could think, he pulled me into a hug, holding me tight against him.  "Don't leave me, ever" he said as he cried.  His arms tightened around me more as he continued.  I found myself hugging him back, and crying as well. "Please Ella.  Don't leave" he said again.  I couldn't continue to be mad, and I didn't wana anymore. I placed my cheek on his chest as I just sat there.  "I won't" I found myself saying.  He took a minute just to give me a hug before he pushed me away from him.  He grew serious again as he looked out the window.  "Let's go in the car.  I'm taking you back" he said as he got up off the couch.  "Where we going?" I asked, not knowing why he was doing it either. Dad sighed before he spoke again.  "I'm taking you back to Ritska's" he said as I got up off the couch.  I didn't fight with him about it, just got ready as we headed out.
