"Miss Rachel! Lady Rachel! are you almost ready to go?" I heard a voice call to me from the other side of my white double doors, that marked the entry way to my room,"Lady Rachel? Are you packed? Shall I help?"
"Oh no. It's fine Carly, I'm almost done." I called back. I quickly zipped my last bag closed and turned around, flopping down beside it on my large canopy bed, staring up at the blank ceiling, where so many of my friends pictures had once hung. I still couldn't believe that I would be leaving for four years. It hadn't really sunk in yet, but I think it was a good thing. I really didn't want to think about leaving my lovely home, filled with so many memories; my loving family, including my family of servants; my amazing friends, who seemed to help me through everything; and most of all, my amazing boyfriend, Travis, who had been with me, not only for the last five years, but the death of my grandparents and beloved older brother. I would see them all again, I knew that. But, leaving them for so long seemed like such a horrendous thing, I didn't want to think about it. After all, moving to Tokyo might be a great thing.
"Lady Rachel? The car is here. Are you ready?" I heard my dear servant Carly call.
"Oh...!" I was pulled out of my daze and quickly rose,"Yes. I'll be right down." I quickly picked my shoulder bag and both my suit cases, walking through my room, slowly, to the door. I glanced at my desk, so full of memories and hard work. I touched my tack board, where more pictures of my friends still hung. I glanced at my book shelves, which held some of my greatest adventures. And when at last I was at the door, they opened for me, by Carly and Chelsey, my two most beloved servants.
"Be careful out there, My Lady." Chelsey grabbed me up in a hug as she always did, and I could feel her tears drip down onto my back,"The world isn't always as nice as us." she faced me and chocked back her little whimpers. Chelsey knew I was fairly sheltered, and I thought of her almost as a big sister, who always tried to protect me. She let me free and I turned to Carly.
"If anything happens, we'll be there in no less than five hours, My Lady." She said, putting her hands on my shoulders.
"You know it takes over fifteen hours to get to Japan." I smiled softly, holding back my own whimpers.
"I'll make them fly faster to get to you." Carly was almost a second mother to me, being in her late forties, she had known me since I was a newborn,"Now, be careful."
"I will." I couldn't hold back, and I fell into her arms, holding her tight. She hugged me back and kissed the side of my head like a mother would. I pulled away, drying my small tears and smiling brightly.
"Well," I said to them both,"I'll be off then." I quickly walked down the long spiral staircase, and as I reached the bottom, I was greeted by all of the other servants that kept up the house, as well as the grounds.
"Have a safe trip, Lady Rachel." one said with a bow.
"May your studies go well, Lady Rachel." another curtsied.
"We hope you adjust well." someone ahead smiled. As I reached the door, I turned around and smiled at them all, feeling that I should say something.
"Thank you all, very much. I do hope that in my absence you all have good health and happy lives. Again, thank you all." I turned on a heel, opening up the big front doors and walking out to my large front yard and onto the stone walk way, leading to a lovely black car that awaited me.
"Wait!" I heard a familiar voice call from behind me,"Like I'd let you leave without giving you a goodbye hug!" my best friend Tracy hugged me from behind, squeezing me tight around the shoulders.
"What kind of friends to you think we are?!" my other best friend, Morgan, said walking in front of me and smiling her dazzling smile.
"You guys!" I smiled as Morgan grabbed me up in her hug, her blond hair shining in the sun. After at least a minute of hugging and tearing up, we all let each other go and faced each other with sad, red faced smiles. "Well, I'll be off then." I said, not wanting to cry in front of them.
