The next morning, we were all woken up and told to get our hair and makeup done by nine. We would be having a big party that day to welcome the new students and meet everyone we were to be spending the next four years with. The boys' school across the lake would also be joining us, considering both schools are run by the same people. It would be like any other fancy tea party I had been to before. Small talk. Food that never filled you up. But at least I would get to meet some of the other girls.
Lauren walked in as I was finishing pulling back my long brown hair with two flower clips. I wore my hair like this very often and I really liked it for just about anything. Lauren was holding two lovely dresses, one dark blue and sleek, the other I saw was the pink uniform dress. Her hair was curled and her makeup was light but make her green eyes pop from behind her thick glasses. Lauren was so beautiful. Her thin curvy body shape was so sweet and perfect that I was even a bit jealous. She smiled as I walked out of the bathroom and laid out the dresses on my bed.
"I couldn't decide which one to wear." she would look good in ether one. "I love the blue, but the new pink one is just so fun looking." she looked at them both thoughtfully and then put them up one after the other in front of her, "What do you think?" she was so sweet to ask me.
"Ummm, I like the blue. Besides, we'll have plenty of time to wear our uniforms when we're doing school." I smiled and turned her around to face the full length mirror, "See? You'll look to cute!"
She blushed and smiled back at me, agreeing that she would go with the blue, "You're right. I'll go with this one. Now what are you going to wear?" I had already picked out a short purple dress that came just below my knees. It had gold beads around the neck and I would be wearing a golden necklace and anklet to match. I also had some sweet little purple flats since we weren't allowed to wear heels till our third year.
"Hello Amaie!" I looked up and saw Neco, perched in my window, putting the screen back on like she had just strolled in through a normal entrance, "Oops, sorry. that means sweet in Japanese. I thought I'd come and see what you were up to. I guess you're still getting ready for the tea party thing." She was clearly ready. with light touches of makeup and a amazing short white dress with little diamonds at the hips, she looked so pretty and almost normal. But by far, her long hair that hung down to her knees was the most amazing. It was glowing golden and had a thin braid hanging over her shoulder with real flowers stuck in it. I wanted her hair if anything else.
"Oh, yeah." I said a bit shocked, "We were just about to get dressed." I quickly glanced at Lauren, who was looking at Neco like she had just seen a ghost, "Lauren, this is Neco, the girl I told you about."
"Oh!" Lauren never took her eyes off Neco, and she looked almost scared.
"Oh! A new friend!" Neco jumped down and ran at Lauren, hugging her gently like they were sisters. I had no idea why she acted the way she did, but in truth, it was kinda funny, "I'm Neco. Neco Kazamaru! Aspiring ninja and class second year. I'm Rachel's new BFF. Oh! let's all be BFF's!" She managed to grab both of us up in a big hug and squeeze us tightly.
"Um, Neco? I can't breath!" She quickly let us go and stepped back with a bit of a embarrassed smile.
"Sorry 'bout that. I get carried away. Anyway, how was your first night here?" She sat down on the desk chair and covered her eyes as Lauren and I changed.
"It was amazing." Lauren smiled, tying the bow on the back of her dress. "The bed was so comfy and dinner was great."
"I wish I had been there. I was still unpacking when dinner started." Neco didn't sound entirely that sad, but I did wish she had met Lauren there instead of in my bedroom window.
