Mister in Coat Part One
Jjeolbae’s P.o.V.
I found myself strolling in the park after finishing my work. I have not visited this place for quite a while, seeing that I have been busy with my work. I guess my life has never been much easy, but I am grateful for it.
“ Would you like some flower crowns, ma’am? These are fresh and fragrant.” A little boy offered me with swollen little eyes. In his hand laid a few strings of various flowers, whose names I do not know.
I nodded and I inspected him more. His clothes were dusty, and I can see holes which were kept sealed with a few centimetres of thread. I really appreciate his effort working hard, and I know it would be good to do a kind act.
“How much are these? I would be taking five.” I responded as he nodded.
“Two hundred fifty won, ma’am.” He said and separated a few pieces for me. I then took a few bills for him to accept. He reached it up to me as I exchanged it with the money I am holding.
“How old are you?” I bent to his level as he raised six fingers. I nodded in response and have decided to interview him for a while.
I asked him if he was studying, and he gladly said yes. He explained he is already on the first grade, and is on the honor rolls. I have known too that he was from a poor family, with a few siblings younger than him.
I felt the urge to help, and took a few ballpens and papers from my bag and handed it to him. But seeing the things that I will be giving him, I thought it was not that enough, so I gave five thousand won as an additional.
“It’s yours. Study well, okay? Work hard.” I said as he nodded and bowed in front of me. He muttered many words of gratitude as I responded that it was nothing.
“Rico!” A voice shouted as he rose.
“I’m going now, miss. Thank you very much for helping me. May God bless you.” He said and departed.
Contented with my actions, I sat down on the bench and stared at the people walking. God made the world imperfect, but he made people realize that we need each other to rise up. Spectacular.
“Good morning, ma’am.” A voice from behind said. I turned around, and saw a figure standing beside me.
His face was not quite familiar, but I admit that his face is good. I figured he was dressing oddly too. He had a collar raised up to his neck, reaching his jaws. He was wearing a coat with a few more shirts inside. I do think it was not suited for the weather, but I have decided not to meddle with his outfit.
“Good morning too, sir.” I said as he smiled and held the railings of the bench.
“Can I sit down beside you? And I would like to ask a few questions.” He said as I nodded and sat down.
“My name is Park Chanyeol, and as you can see, I am a photographer. And I work for the news too. I’m a broadcaster.” He introduced. I figured that he was wearing a big camera, and I guess a large amount of money was spent on it.
“Pleasure.” I said and reached my hand out. He shook it with his right hand as he began to take a pen and a small notebook from his pocket.
“I have seen your charity act a while ago, and I was deeply touched.” He said as I nodded.
“Really? I don’t think it was that great.” I stated as he smiled.
“Actually, I was destined in this park to search for people like you, and I would like to have some interview with you. Can we start?” He asked as I nodded at him.
He then took the camera and placed it in front of us. After doing so, he stood up and asked me to do the same (which I followed correspondingly).
“Good morning, your name is--?” He asked .
“Jjeolbae.”
“Alright, miss Jjeolbae. What struck you to help the little boy a while ago?” He asked as I paused and thought for a while.
“I guess it was because of his hardworking spirit. I saw his motivation, and I felt more than willing to help him.” I said as he nodded.
“Do you think there are other people in the park that will do the same thing that you did?” He asked as I nodded immediately.
“Yes, of course. Care and love is always present on people’s hearts.” I said as he nodded.
“Please give us an inspirational message on the screen.” He said as I faced the camera.
“I do hope that people help each other. It would help us all—succeed in life, that is. It starts in you.” I said as he nodded and went towards the camera. He pushed a few buttons and turned it off after doing so.
“Thank you very much for having this interview with me.” He said as I nodded and fixed my bag.
“And by the way, miss Jjeolbae. Anticipate your show up on the SBS news. Here’s my calling card.” He said as I nodded and accepted it. I smiled at him and took my departure after.
