Grant was sat on his couch back at his apartment after a long day on set. He was 'watching' the flash. He never really liked watching himself but he knew it wasn't him he was watching. La was out walking Jet and Nora. He found himself doing that thing again. Staring into space dreaming about the girl that wasn't his girlfriend. Candice Patton.
He'd noticed earlier how her hair fell in more natural curls, a little lighter shade of brown than normal. But he also noticed pain and heart-break behind her smile that always brought happiness to his entire day. He knows her too well. He can tell when somethings up. And something was up. He knew it.
He also noticed earlier, on set, when she touched his hand his heart sped up. He knew he shouldn't be feeling this way considering he was in a relationship with someone else but he couldn't help it. He'd lay awake almost every night just thinking about everything and nothing; but all related to Candice. On many occasions Grant thought that maybe if he ended it with La now and told Candice how he felt about her it would be for the best. He cared for La a lot and so he knew it wasn't fair on her, for him to be feeling this way about another woman. She deserved someone who truly loved her, and only her.
La came back on from walking the dogs - both Jet and Nora jumped up at him wagging their tales, their leashes still attached to their harnesses, licking his face, full of excitement.
"Earth to grant!" La called, hanging her coat on the back of a chair.
"What? Oh, hey." Grant responded, awaking from his day dream.
"What's up with you?" La asked, sitting herself next to him.
"Nothing."
Grant took the remote and changed the channel. He knows she asks a lot of questions about him and Candice when he watches the show with her and he really wasn't in the mood for it and it wasn't fair on any of them.
"Good day at work?" La said suspiciously.
"Yeah." Grant always has a good day at work.
"What is up with you lately? You are always staring into space? What's going on in that mind of yours?" La said, grabbing his cheeks. Grant knew he couldn't tell her. He needed to think out clearly what he was going to do. So he just responded with "nothing. Just tired." He didn't like lying to her. But he didn't want to break her heart: if he was to tell her he was thinking about Candice, she might think there was something going on between them - but there isn't. Not really.
Grant thought, long and hard about what to do, but still didn't know. He would usually go to his big bro, Tyler, but La was one of his best friends and was actually the one that introduced them together and Grant didn't want to say the wrong thing so he decided to go to Carlos instead.
