Gemma Teller-Morrow stood by the window next to the front door. She stood to the side, carefully parting the curtain, observing the unfolding scene on her front lawn.

Tara Knowles was angrily stalking down the path leading to the front door. Jax Teller (her only living son) was keeping up behind Tara with a hurried pace.

"Are you serious about this?" he asked. She came to a sudden halt and whirled around. Her dark brown hair was brushed and neat for once. She looked different than the misfit Gemma came to know. Her face was filled with fury. "Yes! I've never done anything for myself in my life!" she spat the words at Jax.

His arms dropped to his side. "What about our future?" he asked glumly. Her eyes darted across his face and she shook her head from side to side. "There is no future for us, Jax. Ever since this happened," she made a gesture between the both of them, "my life has been nothing but a mess."

"You really believe that moving to San Diego is going to fix who you are?"

Gemma recognised the fresh wave of anger washing over Tara's face. Jax was pushing her buttons, and like most men he had no idea that he'd taken it a step too far.

"Who I am?" Tara repeated his words with utter disbelief, "Who I am is someone that's getting out of this shithole of a town to be someone else. Who I am in Charming is not who I wanted to be, you know. That's all thanks to you."

He took a step back. He slowly nodded. "Fine then. Enjoy your new life. But once you realise that who you are isn't what I made you become... then come back. Come back so I can tell you I told you so." He turned around and headed for the door.

"Screw you!" Tara called after him and turned away herself, stalking towards her father's Cutlass. Gemma silently wondered if this time she borrowed the car or stole it like the many times before.

Gemma quickly headed for living room before Jax could see she was eavesdropping. She pretended to straighten the cushions on the couch.

"What was that all about?" she asked her son innocently as he closed the door rather loudly behind himself.

"Don't pretend that you didn't listen to it all," he said, stalking down the hall and slamming a door shut behind him.

Gemma sat on one of the couches. She eyed the coffee table, her eyes searching for her cigarettes. She grabbed one, lit it with a match and sat back in her seat.

Just then she heard the low rumble of a motorbike pulling into the driveway. A few seconds later the front door opened and closed followed by the shuffling of footsteps. Clay Morrow appeared. He almost walked right past the living room where she was seated. His eyes caught hers just as he was about to head to the kitchen.

"I almost didn't see you there," he said as he made his way towards her. He ducked down and kissed her on the lips.

"Hi, baby," she greeted him. He took a seat in one of the armchairs

"I just drove past Tara. She seemed pretty pissed. Ran a red light." he said pulling a cigar out of the box in the coffee table. "What was that all about?"

Gemma gave a half smile and knocked the ash from her cigarette into a nearby ashtray.

"All of my problems just announced its departure to San Diego."
