My branch shakes.
What? Why is the tree..?
I look down, to see zombies clawing at the bark, trying to reach me.
No...
I look over to Amy and Signe's tree. Amy looks at me with pleading eyes, zombies surrounding her tree also, but not as many as mine. I look over to Signe, still sound asleep. She always was a heavy sleeper. Her rope is barely holding on. Signe, you idiot, only knotting it once!
I look back to Amy, trying to get her to look at me. She shoots as many zombies as she can, only making it worse by attracting more and more.
"Signe!" I scream, as loud as I can, my tree entrapped in the horde. Her eyes remain closed for a moment, but flutter open. She sits up, a brief look of relaxation on her face before realizing the situation she's in. How can we escape this?
Amy looks through the weapon bag, searching desperately for the one thing we need. Digging through her bag, I shoot as many as I can with my last gun, running out of ammo by the second. My last bullet flies through the air, when Amy screams out.
"I found it!" Amy yells.
Sighs of relief come from each of our three trees as she takes the smoke bomb and throws it to the far side of the forest. And with a giant boom, smoke starts to reach our trees as most zombies make their way over, a little bit of them still refusing to give up. I jump down, my teammates doing the same, handling all the zombies in our way, running out of the forest before the smoke can reach us. A few zombies follow far behind us as we stop running, hiding inside a barn, panting with exhaustion. The moans come close but leave as soon as it came. We were finally safe.
"What a nice way to start the morning!" Signe chuckles. We all giggle as we search the barn for weapons and stuff.
"I'll keep guard!" says Signe, a tired look on her face. Amy and I nod hesitantly, not sure of she was fit to do the job, but we agreed anyway. We search the three levels for supplies. Until a high pitched scream is heard from the first floor, and footsteps. I hear a loud noise, not a moan - but a gunshot.
Please be Signe's gun. But why use a gunshot instead of her sword? Signe knows well that the loud noise would attract the Walkers..
I find Amy and we both frantically rush downstairs, seeing blood splattered on the hard wood floor. Signe lays on the ground, eyes open, mouth lazily open. Her brown hair is now stained with red. I look up to see a woman, foot on Signe's torso as if she was a prize hunting animal, a smirk on her face. Her eyes - they aren't normal but filled with a bloodthirsty look, as if she has a hunger to cause pain. Amy has the same look on her face, twisted with pain, fear, anger, one I've never seen on her face before. Amy has always been a nice person, never one for vengeance or hatred. I take one last look at one of my lifelong friends, lifeless on the floor as Amy yanks me away, tears in both of our eyes as we run for our lives before we get killed.
Either by the woman or the Walkers.
