October 11th. It was two days untill my birthday. I woke up early, very early. It was four-o'clock and I went out on a run. I could feel my lungs stinging as air gasped in and out of my airways. I had only an hour to go as far as I could and come back home with enough time for a shower, breakfast, and then I had to quickly get to school. All without my parents realizing I had left the house early and had gone for a run. Even though we lived in the better area of Gotham City, my parents still didn't trust my going out on runs, thus another reason why I was out of shape.

My feet pounded the sidewalk, each step a struggle to get to my goal. Sweat dripped down my forehead, and my limbs hurt. Soon enough I could feel my lungs start to grow, they opened more, and started up a rhythm with my feet. Every ounce of pain and discomfort that screamed from my body became clockwork.

I became a machine. I didn't even notice the buildings blurring by, the cars were just whirls of light that passed me by. I finally stopped when a car went through a red light, nearly hitting me, and it was then when I checked the time.  I gasped, It was 4:50, and I only had ten minutes to get home. In my head I plotted out my path I had come in my head, adding in shortcuts I knew from when my parents drove me around the city. I set my goal and I started running. I pushed myself to the limit, taking larger, faster strides, quickly navigating around the people just beginning to set up their shops or heading off to work. Soon enough I was panting in my apartment, running towards the shower, and just as my mom would have come in to wake me up I was in the shower. Sadly, in an effort to keep my mom from seeing me I had to jump into the freezing cold water still in my clothes.

"Hey Rosetta honey, you up?" my mom called into my room.

"Yeah! I'm already in the shower!" I called back, pulling off my soaking shoes and putting them in the sink.

"Ok sweetie, breakfast in ten minutes ok?"

"Great mom! I'll be down in nine!" I heard my mom chuckle as I heard her turn around and head back downstairs.

Sigh. That was a close one. I place my head on the shower wall. This was all harder than I expected, my body was physically shaking as I removed my running shirt and sports bra, thowing them into the sink with my shoes. As the water began to warm up I finally had removed all my clothes, washing the sweat and pain away. The warm water loosened my muscles, the steam filling my sinuses with relief. I listened to drum of the shower on my back. I had gotten this far, I definitely could survive another day.

--Nine minutes later --

I ran down the stairs; white wolf t-shirt, skinny dark-wash jeans, and my new black boots. I mean, who wouldn't wear them? They were comfortable, durable, and I needed to get use to them. I headed downstairs, a little skip in my step. I open the kitchen/dining room door to see my dad in his suit and tie eating his jammed toast and sipping his coffee. My mom was busy running around getting everything together, rushing like her life depended on it. My dad finally looked up when the door closed behind me, he smiles into his coffee.

"Girrrrlllll, dem shoes are da explosion! Where you get them?" my dad said with a snap of his fingers after setting his coffee down.

I face palmed my hand, laughing. "First, its bomb not explosion dad, and I bought them online."

"I approve!" he danced in his seat.

I grabbed my lunch, backpack, and sucked down my breakfast when I was suddenly swooshed out of the building by my mom.

The words left my mom a mile a minute "I have a meeting in half an hour with Mr. Wayne, and we are so behind on schedule!" My mom yelled as she sped out of town and swung into the school parking lot. I found myself on the school sidewalk with my mom speeding away towards downtown.
