Chapter 5: Pretty Boy

A few months passed. John was looking at me while I was on the phone and started kissing my neck. "John I'm on the phone with Peggy." He giggled. "Hey Peggy." I laughed and kissed him softly. "Anyway as I was saying. Maria asked me out today." "That's great Peggers." "I know! I'm so happy!" "Good for you." John and I were planning a surprise party for Eliza. Eliza and I have gotten a lot closer and she likes a guy named James Madison. So we're planning on inviting him. John got the invite and sent it out to him. We heard an RSVP from him a few hours later. This was gonna be great. John hugged my waist pulling me back to his waist and I smiled laughing. "Okay Peggers you have fun with Maria and Eliza. Remember keep her away from the apartment until 5:00 sharp." "Sir yes sir general Hamilton." She hung up and I laughed hugging John tight. "Today's gonna be perfect." We walked out of the dorm and heard a large BANG. "What was that?" John held my hand tighter. BANG. Another one came from Aaron's room. "Did you hear that?" John looked at me. "Hear what sweetheart?" I heard another BANG. "You didn't hear that?" John shook his head and I heard my cousin scream. Wait that's impossible... my cousin killed himself last spring. I then blinked and it got grey. John was gone. It was me, Aaron and my cousin fighting Aaron who was holding a gun. This must've been a flashback. I always got them once a month. I snapped back to reality when John held me tight. I hugged him tight. "Oh Johnny boy!" "I'm here Pretty Boy." He kissed my head. That was a new nickname he created our two month anniversary. We've been dating for four months. I hugged him tighter. I was afraid to let go. He picked me up walking to his truck. "Johnny boy..." "Yes Pretty Boy?" "Don't let go." "I won't." We got to the Schuyler's apartment and I smiled as we started setting up with Laf and Herc. I mean John and I did all the work while Lafayette and Hercules made out but you know.. we were happy to do the work. It was fun helping out to surprise Eliza. Next thing I knew it was five. We were finally finished and Herc and I started wrestling. "Ow Hamilton let go!" "Say uncle you big baby!" "Uncle! Uncle! Uncle!" I finally got off of him and smiled as John pulled me close to him. "You're so sweet and kind sweetheart." He kissed my head. "I know." Herc wrestled me to the ground again and I kicked him in the groin. "Oh fuck!" He curled into a ball and Laf ran up to him and I heard Peggy start yelling and I jumped behind the couch turning the lights off as everyone hid. "Wait Eliza!" Eliza opened the door and I turned on the light. "Happy Birthday!!" "Wow! Oh my god!" She ran over and hugged me. I pushed her away and she fell. But she didn't fall on the ground. James grabbed her hand and put his hand on the small of her back holding her tight before she hit the ground. I high fived Hercules and Lafayette and kissed John as Eliza looked up at a James. "J-James hi." "Hey, how's it going?" He helped her up keeping his hand on the small of her back. "Alex can I talk to you please?" "Sure Betty." She dragged me into the kitchen and hugged me tight. "Thank you so much." I hugged her back a little tighter. "Of course. I'm always gonna be there for you Betty." I heard a knock at the door and smirked. "Go answer the door Eliza." She nodded and walked to her door and opened it. I heard the longest scream ever. "Oh my god! Oh my god!" "Hey baby what's shaking?" "Daddy!!" John ran in the kitchen. "You got Mr. Schuyler back home?" "I did." I walked out of the kitchen and hugged Eliza and started sobbing. "Shhh, Eliza it's okay." Peggy walked down the steps and screamed. "Daddy!" Angelica ran down the steps and fell to her knees. "Angelica!" Lafayette ran to her helping her up as she was sobbing. "Colonel Schuyler welcome home." I saluted him and so did John, Herc and Laf. He saluted us. "Thank you. And I'd love to have you four on the battlefield right beside me one day." "Seriously?" Herc looked amazed. He looked like he was gonna faint. "Yes. I would be honored." I smiled as John pretended to faint into my arms. "We would be honored to be by your side Colonel." "I'll put word in with my people. My General would be astonished to hear of you young men." I hugged John tight. "Johnny boy are you okay?" "Yes Pretty Boy."
