A week passed. It was finally time to leave for South Carolina. "John we gotta go!" "I'm coming." He runs down the steps with his suitcase. After two days of driving we finally got to his house. He looks and sees his sister and goes to hug her tight. "Oh my god Jackie! What are you doing here?!" "I'm here for the Laurens Ball. Papa invited me." "Really?" The small girl looks at me with eyes of curiosity. "Who is that?" "My boyfriend." She gasps. "But Daddy..." "Shh... it's okay. I'll handle it. Come on Alex." I followed John responding to his every command. "Alex I need you to play along okay?" "Of course babe." "Don't say that in front of my dad." I nodded confused but attentive. We walked into a study, it was small but it was nice. "Jackie! Who's this?" He looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "I'm-" "He is Alexander Hamilton dad. My friend." I looked at him confused but agreed. "Yes sir, I'm Alexander Hamilton, John's friend." I looked away. "Well... I hope you have a grand time at the Laurens ball." I walked out before John and John ran up to me. "Let me explain." "Let me take a guess... you're dad is homophobic and you were too scared to confront him about you having a boyfriend so you tremble in fear and call me your friend. Am I about on the market?" He nodded sadly. "Yeah. You're right." "Just show me to my room pal." I emphasized the word pal. He heard it too. He showed me to our room and I looked at the floor. "I'll sleep on the floor." He shook his head. "No... Alex-" "I'll sleep on the floor. End of discussion." And at that we were silent again. This ball would be the death of us all.

(Authors note: sorry this is so short. Next one will be longer I promise)
