This story is a special one for Valentine's Day that focuses on Clace (No Jemma in this one I'm sorry! :,( ). Happy Ventines Day!!

Jace Herondale is many things. Smart, handsome and one of the greatest shadowhunters in the world. But something has come over him, nerves. He has been with the woman he knows he loves for five years, and knows that he wants no one else in the world. Jace looked at himself in the bathroom mirror as sweat plastered his hair to his forehead. He took one last look at the engagement ring that he had made for Clary. Shadowhunters didn't really give engagement rings to their fianceé, but he knew that it was a mundane tradition.Clary talked of her dream wedding once, and she was drunk. But she talked of being gifted an engagement ring and Jace wanted to make sure that happened. So he had Magnus's help and crafted a special engagement ring.
"Jace? I'm coming in." He heard with with a knock on the door. Jace quickly put the ring back into the box and stuffed it into his pocket. Standing in the doorway was a flame red haired Clary, who had looken like she had just woken up. "Emma woke up last night and is doing fine." she said with an angelic smile. Jace bowed down and planted a kiss on Clary's cheek. "That's fantastic but," he said. "I don't know how long they are gonna keep this hidden from the Clave." Clary shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. Alec is down in the music room I'll meet you down there, I just have to take a shower." Jace gave a soft laugh. "Are you sure you don't want me to hop in with you?" he asked. Clary turned to turn on the water, but he still saw a curve of a smile. "No," she replied. "I don't like steamy showers." Jace leaned back on the door and Clary was taking off her socks and started to throw them at him "Alright! I'm going!" he threw his hands up in defense. As soon as he closed the bathroom door behind him, he started to run to the music room.
"Jace! Are you serious? You're going to ask Clary to marry you?" Alec asked. Jace nodded, not knowing what to say. "Wow, I have no words for you Herondale." Jace raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.

"Because you think it's a bad idea?"

"No! Not at all! I've been waiting for you to do this for the longest time. How are you gonna do it?" Alec asked. Jace reached into his pocket and took the case containing the ring. He opened the case and showed it to Alec. "You idiot, you are supposed to ask her not me." Alec chuckled. Jace closed the case. "I was gonna do it last night,"Jace said. "but then everything happend with Emma and she started to freak out. So I was going to do it tonight but I don't know how." Alec grabbed a guitar from the side of the room and started to pick at it. "Well, when did you realize you loved her?" Alec asked.
"I don't know. I just knew when I saw her at Pandemonium, something changed in me." Jace said. Alec got up and placed the guitar down. "I can't do music, I don't know how you got so good." Alec muttered.
A light bulb went off in Jace's head. He ran over to the piano and started playing a song, his long fingers dancing across the keys.
"Okay, are you trying to show off your musical talents because I have none? Dick move Herondale." Alec said.
"No Alec, her favorite song on the piano is River Flows in You by Yiruma. Since she said it, have have been practicing and memorizing it for years. I remember Jem saying something that he played the violen for Tessa and that's how he played his love for her." Alec's eyes opened to wide saucers. "Don't practice in front of her, it will ruin it." Alec said. Jace stoped playing as Clary walked into the room, her red hair drenched with water. "Man, the hot water runs out fast here." She said. "I thought you said you didn't like steamy showers.?" Jace grinned. Clary wiggled her nose at him. "What were you playing?" Clary asked.
"Jace wasent playing anything. He was just rubbing it into my face that I can't play anything." Alec said. Clary looked at Jace, a smile creeping on her face. "Dick move Herondale." she finally said. Jace threw his hands in the air. "My parabatai and my girlfriend ganging up on me, not fair!" Clary jumped on the piano gracefully. Jace was looking at Clary, memorizing her every move. He was snatched out if his rendezvous when Emma Carstairs burst into the room.

Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn had been gone about 12 hours, Alec was starting to wonder what happened to them. All of the kids walked tiredly to their rooms. Except Tavvy. He was hell bent on seeing Julian before he went to sleep, but he fell asleep on the institute door. Alec didn't mind taking care of kids. He started to care about kids more when Max died. Alec frouned at the memory. Alec's phone vibrated in his pocket and it lit up showing a text from Jace.
Tell Clary that I am looking for her in the music room.
Alec's thumbs tapped on the screen.
Okay. Good luck!
Alec knew that Clary was in the library, so he started to head that way. When he arrived, Clary was looking a big book that Alec had never seen before. "What are you looking at carrot?" Alec asked. Clary looked up and showed Alec what looked like a Clave file. Across the page was printed the name William Herondale. "Jace has been secretive about a lot of things lately. I was looking at all the Herondale line to see if was something in his line. I started to look at William Herondale's biography and he went through a lot. He thought he was cursed and that everyone he loved would die."
"'To love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be destroyed. "' Alec echoed.
"Alec, I think he's going to break up with me." Clary said in a small voice.
"What! Clary are you crazy?" Alec asked.
"He's been secretive lately, leaving in the middle of the night. I tried to follow him one time, but my witchlight he gave me disappeared."
"Clary, do you love him?" Alec asked. He hoped on the angel the answer was yes. He don't know what would happen if Clary walked out of Jace's life.
"Yes! More than anything." she said, voice like steel. Alec let out a sigh of relief. "He wants to see you Clary." He said. "He's in the music room." Clary nodded and dragged her feet to the music room. Alec took out his phone and texted Jace.
Clary is on her way up. Tell her that you are sorry that you've been secretive lately!
"I'm getting to old for this adolescent crap." Alec sighed as he tossed his phone on a couch as he flopped down on a chair.

This was the longest walk of Clary's life, or so it felt like it. She was walking twords her break up with the only person for her. As she was walking twords the music room, she heard her favorite song Jace plays on the piano in her head. Clary started to rub her head. No no! Stop playing that song! she thought, but it would not go away. She realized as she opened the room, Jace was playing it on the piano. He looked up and smiled at her. "Here we go" she thought. Jace got up from the piano and smiled at her. Clary was taking deep breaths, bracing for heartbreak as Jace took her hands. Clary closed her eyes as she felt tears burning on the back of her eyelids.
"Clary, look at me. I have something to tell you." Jace said in his soft smooth voice. Clary looked up at Jace, the light in the music room was to bright. Rain started to fall against the window and thunder was cracking like a whip. Almost on cue, the power went out. Clary felt Jace's hands slip out of her own hands. "Jace!" Clary cried out. Clary used to be afraid of the dark and she remembered tip toeing across her room into her mother's room. Clary turned to start feeling for a doorknob, when a bright blueish light coming behind her. Clary turned around to see Jace on one knee holding the light source in his hands. The light source was tiny and looked almost like a witchlight. Clary started to walk twords Jace as he reached a hand out. Clary took his hand as tears were rolling off of her chin.
"I don't really know how mundanes do this kind of thing, but all I know is that I love you more than anything that has and will exist forever. I value you more than light, I need you more than I need water. And I know I have been secretive lately and you don't deserve that what so ever. But the truth is that I have never been so scared or nervous in my life. But I love being nervous when it comes to you." Jace looked up to see Clary who was crying with her right hand covering her mouth. Jace squeezed her left and continued. "So Clarissa Adele Fairchild-Morgenstern, would you do me the honor in becoming your husband?" Before Jace finished his sentence, Clary started to nod her head smiling. "Yes, yes!" she had to force the words out of her mouth because her throat went dry. Jace took the ring and put it on her finger. Clary touched the stone and it stoped glowing and the room went dark. She tapped it again and it lit up the room.
"I had it made from a piece of your witchlight. It's back home." Clary took Jace by the shoulders and kissed him as rain splashed the windows.
