3 months later

Emma Carstairs was sitting on her bed in her old room at the institute, pouting like a toddler at her parabatai/baby daddy.
"I'm completely fine! I can go on this demon call with you!" Emma crossed her arms. Julian shook his head no. "You're 9 months with twins Em, you can be having them any minute." Julian said in his soothing voice. Ever since they got back from London, Emma was on complete lockdown. She eventually did call Tessa and Jem and told them everything. They were now searching the world for Malcom and Cameron, but have had no luck. Jace and Clary still haven't done any wedding planning, because everyone in New York was looking as well. The trouble was that the Clave couldn't know about Cameron. Because if they found out about Cameron, they would find out about Emma and Julian. Christina decided to stay in London and keep an eye out there.
"I know my limits Julian! I'm your parabatai and I need to follow you into possible danger."
"You get winded walking to the bathroom. I don't think you can take on a Shax nest quite yet."
Emma threw her head back and sighed. Up until this point, Julian would sit with her and Tavvy while everyone else went on demon patrol. But this was a big nest and Shax demons are nasty. Julian motioned at something in the doorway, and young Tavvy came through the doorway, with cards and board games. "Now Tav's here," he patted his little brothers head. "Is going to watch you until I get back."
"You're leaving an eight year old in charge of me?" Emma chuckled. Julian walked twords Emma and planted a kiss on top of her head and rubbed her belly lovingly. "He wont hesitate to take you down, like I told him to, if you leave this bed." Julian whispered into her hair. Emma scrunched her nose at him as he walked out of her room. Before he left her room he looked back at her. "I love you Emma." said Julian in her mind. She smiled back at him. "I love you too." she said in her head.
She hoped he heard it.

Julian was driving down the road with everyone in the car. A couple weeks ago, the institute invested into a mini van which fitted up to seven people and  huge trunk to store weapons and such. They still had the old car in case other people at the institute needed to go somewhere. The car ride was pretty quiet, because  no one knew what to say. Julian wasn't the same person they knew a year ago. Everyone saw a new side of Julain these past seven months. and no one was sure if they liked it or not.
As Julian was pulling up to the area (which looked like an abandoned library) where the demons were reported. It was almost nine at night and that is what Julian likes to call "Demon happy hour". But the odd thing was, there were no demons at all. "Where's the demons Jules?" Livvy asked.
"I donno, the report we got said it was a big nest." Julian shrugged. "Maybe you guys stay here. I'll search the perimeter." Mark grabbed Julian's wrist with hesitation. Julian nodded his head, as if he said I will be okay. Julian shook off his brother and started to walk twords the abandoned library. It was all clear  But as he walked by the reading garden, he passed out. All he saw was piercing purple eyes before he hit the ground.
Emma was finding that it was actually pretty fun to be "babysat" by Tavvy. They were playing a board game on her bed. Julian and the others have been for a hour and Emma was starting to get worried. She tried talking to Julian with her head (they learned that trick pretty quick), but he never replied. "Ha! I landed on a space that gives me $4,000,000 to buy a new house with a pool!" Tavvy exclamed. Emma smiled weakly and put her hand on her stomach. She had been getting contractions for about a week now, but not constant enough to worry about. She was getting one now and Tavvy apparently noticed because he looked sideways at her with concern. "Do you need water?" Tavvy asked. Emma shook her head no, but Tavvy got up anyways and walked out of her door anyways. Emma got up off of the bed and started to pace around. She heard the institute's phone ring, but she could hear Tavvy pick up the phone. Walking around normally eased the contractions, and it was working for now. Emma then went over and opened the door that went out on to the balcony that overlooked the highway with the sea over the horizon. She took a deep breath of the salty air and actually felt a little at peace for once. She didn't feel Julian's anxiety or her own. She kind of understood why people felt the ocean was so calming. She then saw the car driving down the highway and started to smile. She put her hand to her parabatai rune, and twisted her face. She couldn't feel him.
Emma carefully ran downstairs to meet everyone at the doors of the institute and was met by Tavvy standing at the door with a glass of water and the institute's phone in hand. Before she could ask what's wrong, everyone busted through the doors twords the library. Emma and Tavvy started to trail behind everyone  else, concerned. Emma was definently starting to freak out because she couldn't see Julian's brown wavey hair. Maybe he is unloading the stuff from outside or is checking the wards. She kept on telling herself when they reached the library and she still didn't see him. Everyone else was looking at her with concern.
"Emma," Mark started.
"Where is he?" Emma's voice cracked. She already knew what happened, but she was praying on her oaths that she was wrong. That she didn't want to hear the answer that she already knew. All she wanted to hear was anything but those two words that came out of Mark's mouth.
"He's gone."

Emma felt like she was underwater. She felt pressure behind her eyes, couldn't hear, and she couldn't breath. She did feel people putting their hands on her shoulders, as if they are saying how everything will be okay. This was worse than almost drowning way back when. She was frozen with rage because she already knew who was behind it. She almost didn't notice the water running down the sides of her legs.
