Cloverpaw stood rigid in the clearing as the other cats of her Clan departed around her to resume their daily activities. She didn't hear much except the roaring thoughts roaming fastly around her mind. What was Berrystar thinking?! Did she know how much pain he had caused to us? Does she know that Cloudstorm hates us now? ...Am I in serious danger now? The pawsteps of Petalpaw sounded behind her as she approached closer. She felt a tongue razz at her cheek. Sandfire..
"Cloverpaw," Sandfire began, "I... didn't think Berrystar could be so...daft and choose him. And I will most certainly talk to her about it." Sandfire looked up at Berrystar's den. "She might be in there now. I'll ask Frognose if I can speak with her. Wish me luck." Sandfire bounded away, leaving Petalpaw and Cloverpaw with each other."
Petalpaw sat down next to her. "Cloverpaw, if that rat gets anywhere near hurting you again, I'll rip his throat out! And when I learn awesome warrior moves.." She paused, and for a moment, seemed to be smirking. "Oh, I'll just leave him for the Dark Forest." Cloverpaw looked up, a small shocked expression on her face. Sh-She looks serious about this.... She thought. Maybe leaving her alone affected this.
"Thanks, Petalpaw." She meowed, trying to sound grateful. "But maybe we shouldn't go as far as killing Cloudstorm. After all, imagine Freezingligh-"
"Oh who cares about that foxhearted she-cat!" Petalpaw snarled. "She stole our father away! ...My father... And I will not let her get away with it! Killing her only love will set her straight and leave her with the pain we have now!"
A sudden look of a grin popped on Petalpaw's face. She quickly turned to Cloverpaw. "Cloverpaw! I just had an idea on just how to do it!" Cloverpaw stared at Petalpaw with worried, concerned eyes. She's lost it! She can't possibly be thinking of really killing him, could she?! "O-Okay.." Cloverpaw mewed, voice low and hesitating. "What is it?"
Petalpaw grinned maliciously and twitched her whiskers. "You'll kill him during training." She meowed, claws unsheathing. Wh-What?!
"Now hold on there, sis! I don't think I'm uh, the, uh, killing type! I can't handle the thrill, you know?" Cloverpaw shook in fear. I can't kill him! I can't kill anyone!
Petalpaw laughed in what sounded like unconvinced humor. "Oh you're too funny! Cloverpaw, we haven't even gone out training yet!" She flexed her claws. "But we will, and that will be the death of Cloudstorm. The fall of the "strong" warrior." She put her tail on the stiff Cloverpaw. "But don't worry, I'll help. I won't leave you to die." Who said I was? Who said I was actually going to do this?!
Petalpaw released her tail suddenly and turned to Cloverpaw with narrowed green eyes. "Sandfire is coming back," she meowed, "you must not tell anyone about this talk, alright?" Petalpaw got to her paws, and smiled mischievously at Cloverpaw before sprinting off to meet Duskfeather.
Sandfire approached Cloverpaw, a half angered and half disappointed look on her face. This can't be good.
"Well," Sandfire meowed, "it appears that Berrystar has made up her mind. She says that if he does hurt you, then she will think about it. But I am most certain this change needs to happen!" She growled and clawed at the ground. "Why does Berrystar make the most foolish decisions? She's on her 8th life anyways, according to Greywhisker. Yet she wants to make life harder for us." Sandfire stopped and looked down at Cloverpaw. "Oh, dear me. Sorry, sweetheart. I didn't remember you were here..."
Cloverpaw tilted her head. Why would Greywhisker tell Sandfire about Berrystar's lives? Did he just blurt it out? Or is it something else?
"Well, I probably should go training now..." Cloverpaw mewed, almost in a squeaky whisper. "Wish me luck.." Without looking to see Sandfire's startled reaction, she bounded away, racing toward Cloudstorm. Great StarClan... What is happening to my family?
