Felicity's POV

As usual, Chloe has been a total jerk to me. I walked off to class, swearing I'd get back at her somehow. I was just minding my own business when she poked her enormous nose into my private space.

"Stupid drama queen." I muttered under my breath.

I sat at my desk and flipped open my notebook. In case you didn't know, I have a passion for writing. After a while, Mrs. Leslie entered the class.

"Students." she said. "I have an assignment for you. You will be making a presentation about three famous people in history. It can be anyone based on your liking. After that, I want you to write a 1000 word story about the importance of making reading a habit."

The whole class groaned. "But, you shall have a partner. I will pick out your partner for you. Don't forget to hand in your work by next Friday."

She picked up a name list and called out students' names and their partners. "Pair number 6, Felicity and Chloe."

The whole class gasped but no one was more shocked than Chloe and I. Everyone knew we were enemies. Having to work with her on an assignment was the last thing I wanted to do. I could've asked Mrs. Leslie to change my partner or even insist on doing it on my own. But I knew better.

After announcing everyone else's partners, Mrs. Leslie announced that we can start discussing about what we're going to work on with our partners. I dragged my chair over to Chloe's desk since I knew that lazy young lady would never come over to me. She examined her nails while I gave her my best death glare.

"So...." I began. She acted as though I were invisible.

"What are we going to do?" She still acted as though I wasn't even there.

"Ahem." I said, loudly.

She glanced up at me. "What?" she asked.

Honestly, that girl is hopeless! She's just going to act like a total diva and pretend that she's too good for me. I shook my head.

"Forget it."

"What I seem is not who I am." she said. "Don't be too quick to judge."

"Excuse me?" I said, ticked off that she would even think of saying a thing like that! "I'm not quick to judge! You're always like that!"

"Let's do someone like Einstein. I'm sure his backstory would be good." she said. I was rather surprised that she would even suggest doing something! I thought that she wouldn't do anything! Not even suggest!

"Uh.... Okay." I agreed. I took out a small notepad and scribbled his name down. "I was thinking we'd do someone like Leonardo Da Vinci. Or Charles Darwin. Or even Hitler."

She took out a compact mirror and inspected her face. "Hitler and Leonardo. There. Done. We've got the three people we need to complete our project."

"Okay. Oh, and don't forget we need to make an essay."

"I didn't forget."

"Sure...."

"Want to come over to my place after school to work on the project?" I asked.

"Sure." she said, applying lip gloss with her eyes glued to her mirror. "Just note that I can't be seen with you. My reputation is at stake here."

At that moment, her three mean best friends walked up to us. "Girl, I am so sorry you have to work with ugly loser. Honestly, if I were you, I definitely would." Mira said.

"Oh, believe me. I am." she replied, getting up. "Now come on girls. Let's go eat."

I sat in my chair, shaking with anger. The little devils. I thought. I hate them!

I walked off to the cafeteria to sit and catch up with my best friend, Jill. It's a shame we're in different classes but at least I have a friend. I saw her sitting alone with a gloomy expression on her face. Usually, her friends from her class would be sitting with her (and even though I talk to her friends, we're not really close) but not today.

"Hey." I greeted. "What's up? You look really down. Is everything alright?"

She shook her head. "No."

"Want to talk about it?"

"You're not going to like it." she said. "But I-I'm transferring to another school...."

I felt as though my heart had sank into the bottom of my shoes.

"Wait, what?!" I said, upset. "But.... But.... You're my only friend!"

"I'm sorry, Fe." she said. "I was really afraid to break the news to you but I knew I had to. My dad's got a better job somewhere in town far, far away from our house. We're going to move so that my dad doesn't have to drive so far to get there. My mom's found a school nearer to our new home and decided to send me there instead. I never wanted to leave but I have no choice. I'm so, so sorry."

Tears started rolling down her cheeks. Suddenly, I had no appetite.

I walked home alone after school that day. I was so upset when I heard those news I didn't want to walk with Jill anymore like I used to. I carried a heavy heart into my house that day. After making my own lunch (since both my parents were working and we had no maid) and eating it in front of the telly, I got onto my laptop to continue writing my story about my depressing life. It really gets things off my chest. Kind of like a digital diary.

I finished writing my tenth chapter and then dove onto my bed. I buried my face into my pillow and cried myself to sleep. I woke up at five o'clock. I finished up my homework and then ate dinner on my own. My parents would usually return home by 8 o'clock so I just used my phone.

I received a text from Jill. Am at my new home right now. she texted. Turns out, we've moved sooner than expected. I thought we're going to move the day after tomorrow but my mom actually packed everything by the time I came home today. I won't be going to school anymore tomorrow. And everyday after that. I miss you so, so much. :(

And that was enough to make me break down into tears all over again.
