A Tale of Life

ii. Sage

"I entered the battles." Nova said; her words echoing in my head.

 "You didn't."

"Yes, I did." She replied; much more stern.

"Why!?"

"I want to leave, Sage. This place isn't for me. I want to see the world." She said softly, her eyes lighting up.

"HOW THE HELL DO YOU EVEN THINK YOU CAN SURVIVE THE BATTLES!?"

"BECAUSE I KNOW I CAN! NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!"

After snapping at me, I gave her the space she needed. She was scared. I mean, who wouldn't be scared?

"Hey, I'm sorry for what happened earlier." I heard Nova's voice from behind me. As I was turning around, I came to a stop when I saw her eyes all red, her hair disheveled and her cheeks wet from crying. She was gorgeous.

"What happened?" I asked as she came closer to me. My heart was pounding so fast I almost passed out. She wrapped her arms around me and started crying on my chest. She was making my favorite shirt wet but, I didn't mind.

"I'm sorry." She choked through her tears. My heart broke hearing her like this. For a second, I wanted to kill everything that was making her cry. For a second, I saw a future wherein we were in our safe haven, all of our problems gone. For a second, I wanted to kiss her to make her happy again.

"I'm sorry too."

"Why?" She looked up at me with her beautiful teary eyed brown eyes. I almost forgot how to breath.

"I entered the battles too."

"Why did you do it?" She asked.

"I wanted to keep you safe, Nova."

"Why?"

"Because I care about you."

"I hate you so much." She said as she buried her on my chest and left me speechless by her response.
