Stars and Friends

I stare at this night sky every night

Wondering why I feel alone

Wondering if it will always be this way.

The night sky completely dark

With no stars or moon

All I see is darkness

And I wonder if that will be the only thing that I see.

Suddenly a star appears in this sky

Along with a few more in rapid succession

And I realize I'm not alone

Even if I have the feeling.

My true friends start sitting around me

Smiling gently as they look at me

Notifying me that they are always there

All I have to do is call on them.

I look at them all and nod

Letting them know that I am there as well

For when ever they need me.

They all slowly fade away

Along with the stars

Except for one.

I reach for the star

Wondering who is the owner of it

But then I see my hand slowly fading away

Along with the rest of my body.

I begin to panic

Screaming for help with no voice

But then it becomes clear to me.

The owner of that last star

Is myself...
