Today marked half way through our last year in highschool.

I'm not too popular among this people. Nobody here hates me but I also have no friends. I suppose I'm okay with that, it's easier that way.

AP Chemistry had just started. We were all sitting at our tables. Everyone had a partner next to them, except for me. I suppose I liked to work alone anyways.

The teacher had just begun talking about our lesson today when our principle stepped into the room. He whispered something into Mrs.Smiths ear.

"Okay class!" She clapped her hands, in attempt to gather my classmates attention. Unfortunately, it didn't work for anyone, not even me. I just continued working.

"Well-um- there's a new student here! So be welcoming and nice!"

I could see from the corner of my eye, somebody walking in. It seemed to be a guy, based on the pants and shoes that I noticed.

The next thing I noticed though, was that all the talking in the classroom has seized. I take a moment to look up and everyone was staring at this guy.

I was, for sure, very confused. All, boys and girls, were staring at this new kid in awe. I couldn't understand why though, he was just some guy.

He looked around, seeming to scan the room for a seat. All the girls started to usher their friends to an empty table, to make room for him to sit.

But then he made eye-contact with me, and held it. I looked down quickly. Thinking about how weird that was.

Suddenly, he was sitting next to me. I glared at him, hoping he would get the hint that I did not want to sit with him.

Why couldn't he sit next to one of the girls that actually wanted to sit next to him?

"Hi, my name's Jake."

I ignore him, looking around the room first. Everyone was staring at me in shock, and some, with anger. I looked back down.

"Emily." I reply, as quietly as humanly possible.

"Emily. That's a cool name." He chuckled, pulling out a brand-new notebook.

I mumbled a thanks, then turned my attention back to the teacher, hoping that if I ignore him, he'll leave me alone.

"So, how's the school here?"

I glare at him with obvious annoyance and sigh.

He looks down, without another word. And didn't say anything, until class was over.

"So, what's your next class?" He asked, quickly blocking my path to leave.

"None of your business." I firmly stated. I just want him to leave me alone.

"Well it is if we have the same class."

He was so bubbly and happy. Why is he so bubbly and happy?

"English."

"Well, great! That's my next class too!"

I sigh in aggravation.

"Great, have fun walking to it."

"I'll make sure we do."

I quickly leave the classroom, in hopes of losing him in the hallways. I mean, seriously, why is this guy being so clingy? It's super weird.

I felt like I had lost him, which I was thankful for, then some guy bumped into me, hard.

"Shit, girl! Watch where you're going!" Some jock yelled, pushing me back some.

"Hey, don't touch her like that!" Jake came in, and immediately punched the jock, right on the nose.

The jock regained his balance, throwing a punch back, starting a full on brawl with Jake.

I jumped between them, eager to stop the fight. Unfortunately, this didn't go like the movies. It didn't stop the fighting. And the only thing that was changed, was that I was an accidental target. The jock punched me, right in the side, sending me flying into Jake. Jake immediately grabbed me, starting to pull me away, but I shoved him off.  The hallways were now quiet, except for the few small comments from bystanders.

The next sound that came, were heels, clicking along the floor.

All attention was turned towards our principle, Mrs. Marshall. The room somehow quieted even more. Everyone started to part off, going to their classrooms.

Me, this jock, and this Jake guy were all looking down in shame.

"Students."

"Mrs.Marshall." I was the only to respond, while the other two stayed silent.

"What is the meaning of this?" She asked, but instead looked directly at Jake.

He made intense eye-contact with her, which also freaked me out, but she didn't back down.

"Detention. All of you. Right now."

I could have sworn I heard a growl.
