"You just can't trust guys who wear shorts over boxers like that. I mean, it almost jumped out and attacked me!"
Ora laughed out loud as her best friend, Faith, cracked a joke about her experience with man spreading on the bus. She never failed to make Ora feel better about herself.
After the incident with Michael yesterday, Ora's confidence almost crashed as low as Wall Street in 1929. It's not like she new him but she didn't expect him to be such a knob! They were just passing C Block on campus when Michael popped out from behind a side street and made her scream. For. Her. LIFE. (Queue RuPauls DragRace intro)
"Jesus christ! Michael! W-what-?" Ora clutched her pearls and tried to get her breath back as Faith rubbed her back in support.
"You mean Michael as in the d.ck head Michael from yesterday?" Faith asked pointing daggers at Michael. Ora swore she saw him back up a step which made her laugh inside."I'm sorry for scaring you I just saw you walking and I wanted to come and apologise for how I acted yesterday. I was out of line and for that, I'm sorry." He said sincerely, making Ora kind of regret spilling the tea on him to Faith. Although, if you have the receipts, why not read them?
"That's okay, you did seem really busy, so.." Ora concluded, smiling at Michael to let him know he was forgiven. Though she still felt it was a little weird that he'd go off his marbles at the colour of her eyes..
"Faith did you want to go on without me? I'll be there in a sec." Ora said with a smile, thinking of how nervous Michael might be feeling with Faith wanting to murder him two feet away.
"Yeah, Ora, sure." Faith eyed Michael suspiciously as she walked away, Michael sucked in oxygen and coughed as if he had been holding his breathe for the whole conversation.
"Ora.. that's a.. very pretty name." Michael said and smiled, though not quite reaching his eyes.
"Thanks. You're not the first one under her foot by the way, let me tell you." Ora chuckled, pushing her hair out of her eyes."Did you want to grab a drink with me?" Michael said quickly, making Ora feel a boost of confidence.
Do I want to grab a drink.. with him?
She had only met him once for god's sake, even if she had been obsessing over him for a year, she didn't want to seem easy. Because she wasn't, and it was important for him to know that forgiveness didn't equal a drink at the pub."I uh can't right now. Faith's waiting for me at the café.." Ora said, blocking the morning sun from her face with her left hand and pointing down the road with the other.
"Oh, right, of course. Maybe another time." Michael smiled. "Come by the shop sometime, we just got a heap of Palaeontology books in from Western Australia. They seem pretty thicc." Michael winked, making Ora laugh, instantly feeling more comfortable around him."I'll see you soon then." Ora smiled up at him and walked away, giving him a wave.

Michael watched her walk away and sighed in defeat.
Let's try plan b then, shall we?He waited until dark, when Ora had finished what seemed to be her 6 o'clock class, and began to follow her home. Once she had arrived, Michael saw her close the door and detected movement through one of the front windows a few moments later. Her bedroom. Michael thought warily, hoping she was the type of person to close the blinds before getting naked. Michael felt a blush coat his cheeks and shook his head.
"Time for a stakeout." He said out loud, looking for a tree to climb up and perch on. He walked towards the middle of the pathway, directly opposite her window and started climbing, occasionally slipping on sap or faulty twigs.
Once up, Michael saw Ora walk up to the window and open it, pushing it upwards. A black fluff ball of a cat tumbled out, falling clumsily over the edge and into the bushes below.
"Pepper!" Ora shrieked, panicked at her cats idiocy.Michael chuckled quietly as the cat got up and pranced out of the bushes slyly, giving it's owner a wave of relief as Ora backed up from the window and shut it firmly.
The cat spotted Michael and started its ascent to the branch he was sitting on.
"Come here you silly thing." Michael said humorously, petting the cat under the chin and around its neck.
"Meow." Pepper muffled a yawn and sat down next to Michael.
"Same, little guy. Same." Michael said, glancing back at the window, noticing that the light had been switched off.
It's gonna be a long night.• • •
