Perched beside a river, Ora laughed, smiling to herself in the bright rays of the sun. Feeling the warm soil beneath her fingers, Ora leaned backwards and rested her head on a patch of perfectly green grass.
She looked up at the gum and ghost trees that surrounded the lake and sighed in serenity at the soft shuffling of the birds in the leaves.

Ora suddenly felt a wave of uncontrollable sadness, out of place in such a beautiful scene, and turned to her side, peering into the clear water.

Ora stared at her reflection, momentarily disturbed by the off ripple here and there before it began to change. It morphed until the image that looked back at Ora was nothing that she had ever seen before. A monster. Blood red and pointy in every curve of its face as if gravity was pulling it upwards and out.

Ora reached down into the water slowly, strangely calm. Just as her finger tips skimmed the surface a slimy bleeding hand and arm reached up and grabbed her hand, ripping her down with brute force.

Screaming.

That was all Ora knew for the few brief seconds before waking up completely. She screamed and screamed until her lungs felt torn.
She quickly lifted herself upright, wiping the perspiration from her forehead and desperately kicking the sheets off.

Pepper pawed at Ora's left arm before climbing up and booping his nose on her mouth for kisses.
Ora calmed down and smiled slightly before getting up to open the window to let him outside.
As she opened the window a strange feeling creeped up her spine, triggering her fight or flight sense and causing her to slam shut the window once Pepper had jumped off the window sill.

Ora looked around her room, anxiety dripping from her fingertips as she opened her closet door and checked under the bed as if she was 8 again.
Why can't I shake this feeling. She thought, shaking her head and attempting to get ready for the gym her and Faith had spontaneously signed up for.

Later in the day, Ora and Faith had sat down at the café and were having what they called, they're "Cappa Mondy", a colloquial Aussie term they created, simply meaning "Cappucino Monday", making them giggle every Monday afternoon.

Faith Gonzalez was Ora's outgoing and comedic partner in crime, always making people laugh whether she was the creator of the joke or the butt of it. Her straight black hair and jaw dropping curves only accentuated just how smart Faith actually was, majoring in religious studies and fixing computers on the side for extra cash.

The two women met during orientation week at the University. Ora was shovelling down her third potato-on-a-stick when Faith came up behind her and asked her if she was gonna save one for her.
Both of them knew no one so they turned to each other for companionship and it worked out pretty well.

"So, did you accept?" Faith asked, giving Ora a curious look.
"No of course not! I've only just met him."
Faith laughed and shook her head. "You have "met him" a thousand times before in your head, Ora."
"True." Ora said in defeat. "I just felt like he wanted something from me, you know?"
Faith nodded, knowingly. "Oh, I know." She agreed and called the waitress over for another Cappuccino, when Ora's phone rang.

Work showed on the screen and Ora quickly picked it up, a bad feeling in her stomach. "Hello?"
"Ora! This is the third and last time you "forget" that you have a shift. You. Are. Fired!" They abruptly hung up and Ora flinched, sitting back in her chair.

"Who was that? Ora?" Faith asked worryingly at Ora's shocked expression. "I just got fired." Ora said, quickly recovering.
Faith moved her head to the side and reached into her bag for something, giving Ora a perfect view of the bookshop across the street.

"Uh oh. You have you're idea face on." Faith said, concerned. Ora just took a sip of her Cappuccino, wiping the froth from her top lip and standing up from her chair.
"I'll be right back." She said, leaving a dumbfounded Faith to head towards the bookshop, looking both ways before crossing the street.
