"Flor, it's gonna be alright. I will always be with you. You don't have to worry."
Mama, I've missed you. Please hug me tighter, I don't want to let you go... Please...
Buzz. My dream abruptly ended by my cellphone alarm waking me up. I rubbed my eyes and looked around. Wait, this isn't my bed... It took me a few seconds to remember last night's events and realize that I was actually in Josh's bed. Soon enough my bladder was begging to be emptied. After going to the bathroom, I went down the stairs to find Josh in the kitchen. Before I could make my presence known, Sweeney was already barking and jumping on me, expressing his joy in seeing me and completely waking me up. Josh turned from what he was doing and grinned. He came and hugged me.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty. Sleep well?"
"Good morning," I yawned. "As a matter of fact, I did. Your bed is super comfy."
"Glad you liked it! I was just getting started with breakfast."
"Oh," I said a bit alarmed, "what's on the menu?"
"Well, one of the few things I can't mess up on," he chuckled, scratching his head, "scrambled eggs, toast, and fruit."
"Yum! Can't wait! Do you need me to do anything?"
"No, no," he affirmed and directed me to the table, "be a good girl and just sit back and relax. You have too much to stress about already."
I smiled at his thoughtfulness. "Ok, then. I'll be a good girl this time."
He snickered, grabbed a mug and extended it towards me. "Coffee?"
"No thanks, I don't drink coffee," I replied with a smile.
"Oh, that's right, I'm sorry." He sipped and pondered. "It's because of your religion, right?"
"Well, at first it was. But now it's a conscious decision. I did the research and I believe my body is better without coffee."
"I see..." he observed as he nodded. "Anyways, I've gotta finish breakfast so I can go to work. Sorry I have to leave so early, I have a really important meeting that I couldn't cancel last minute..."
"It's totally fine. I understand you completely and I'm just happy to be here, safe with Sweeney." I grinned and petted Sweeney, who immediately started wagging his tail at the mention of his name.
We ate breakfast in peace, with little conversation. I didn't seem my usual, happy self, and I think Josh noticed since he seemed to try to be a bit more enthusiastic. Josh left for work, but with the promise of taking me after work to my apartment to get whatever was left of yesterday's fiasco. I was left alone with my thoughts, and Sweeney. I called Bailey to tell her what happened and asked for prayers so that I would be able to find a place to live soon.
"But where are you staying right now?" Bailey inquired with worry.
"Right now? I'm at Josh's place."
"Oh my! Is that so?" Her voice was tremulous, so I couldn't tell if that was a good or a bad thing.
"Are you okay with that, Bailey?"
"Well, to tell you the truth, if it wasn't Joshua I would be a bit more worried, but I know he's a good boy. It's just that," she paused as if to word her thoughts correctly, "is it really alright for two single young adults to be living under the same roof?"
Now that I think about it, that is true... "You know what? I hadn't thought about that before. But, let me tell you, I don't think that's an issue. Josh and I are simply friends, it's not like he's all of a sudden become smitten by my gorgeous self and suddenly wants to make a move on me. Very unlikely." I snickered.
