Work would've gone better if I hadn't been worried about Josh the whole time. For some reason, no matter how hard I tried, my thoughts would go back to him. That's probably because I'm worried about him. After a meeting, I would usually stay behind and talk to my coworkers a little, but this time, I went straight home. Home? Well, not necessarily my home, but a home.
"Josh, I'm back!" I shouted as I opened the door.
Cough. "Welcome back, Larissa!" I heard his voice coming from the living room.
Sweeney ran up to me and barked. "Hey, Sweeney! Did you miss me?" I scratched his head. He seemed to understand what I said as he wagged his tail faster.
"You guys seem to have bonded in a very short time."
"Well, he's just a really nice little guy." I put on my doggy voice, "You just can't not like him!"
"That's very true."
I went to the kitchen to drink water and got Josh a glass of water as well. "Were you watching TV?"
"Huh? Oh, I actually just woke up from a nap."
"Really? That's cool." By this time, I was standing next to him and handed him the cup. "Are you hungry?"
"Now that you mention it, I could use some food..." his stomach growled.
We laughed. "Alright then, I'll get right to cooking." I rolled up my sleeves and started heading for the kitchen. But I didn't even take two steps when I was stopped by Josh tugging at my shirt. I slowly turned around to see him look a little shy. "Do you need something?"
"Well, it's just that you've been helping me out a lot today and I wanted to help you, too..."
I smiled at his generosity. "Of course you can help! I'd be delighted to cook with you!"
"Really?" he tilted his head, still holding on to my shirt..
"Really," I nodded. Why does he have to be so cute! I wish the world was filled with more men like him.
"Okay then, what are we making?" He stood up.
"I think we'll have to go grocery shopping, you don't have many options to choose from in your fridge."
"That's true," he chuckled, "I usually eat out because I'm too lazy to cook for myself."
I snickered. "You make it sound like you're proud of that!" We looked into each other's eyes for a few seconds before I asked, "Are you gonna keep holding my shirt like that?"
He immediately stepped back and put his hands up. "Sorry!"
"It's okay," I giggled. "Anyhow, drink a cup of water and change while I go walk Sweeney and then we'll head out to the supermarket."
"Yes, mother."
After going around the block with Sweeney, I remembered that Josh and I are both celebrities. Celebrities don't just go walking around town unprotected, especially together. Maybe we'll have to wear a disguise. Now, I'm a person who likes dressing up, so the thought of that actually made me kind of happy. When I got back, though, Josh was already in disguise. Oh, so he realized. Well, that's good.
"I see you understand how the paparazzi works," I said to him.
"Yep. Although here in New York you don't really get too much. It's like they're already used to seeing famous people," he fixed his glasses. "But it's always good to be prepared."
"Well, I've only recently become recognized by the media, so I still have to learn," I shrugged my shoulders. "Speaking of that, I'm gonna need to borrow some of your clothes."
