Vidia screamed out Elian's name. Debris and mini fires were scattered among the bodies. Vidia hopes that someone took Shay's body to the palace.
Dain saw Elian come running along with a long, deep scratch along his face. That would definitely leave a scar.
"What?" He asked as he kneeled down next to Vidia who's face was stained with dry tears.
"Is your Oberon still alive?" Vidia asked quickly. She knew the river only heals while people are still alive.
Elian nodded yes and whistled for his Oberon. It came trotting over.
Kalen refused to let anyone else help Dain onto the horse. He picked Dain up and they both rode on the horse together. Dain slumped over the horse's main.
Vidia whistled for another Oberon and was lucky to find one slowly walk over. She jumped up on it and held out her hand for Elian. He took it and swung over the horse.
"Let's go." Vidia commanded. Kalen led his Oberon first and was horrible at steering. He must not of had Oberons at the Nyx kingdom.
Vidia followed closely behind, wishing Kalen knew how to steer better. It was fairly simple.
Kalen finally got the hang of it and by the time they reached the river, it was almost dusk.
Kalen helped Dain off the Oberon and walk to the river. He handed him over to Vidia because she knew more about how the river works than he did.
Kalen looked around for any intruders while Vidia helped Dain into the river. Elian was also on the lookout.
Suddenly, Kalen heard a high pitches whistle. Only Nyx's could hear it.
"Oh no." Kalen knew Dain heard it, too. If Dain was conscious...
Elian looked at him confusingly. "What?"
"They heard us. They are calling their whistle."
"What whistle?" Elian asked. He listened but still only heard the rushing water.
"It's a whistle only made for a Nyx ears. It means that some of our people heard us and are coming."
Kalen ran back to Dain and Vidia in the water.
"Is it working?" He asked.
"I don't know." Vidia replies. She looked at Fain in the water who's eyes were closed. Kalen felt around for a heartbeat and it was very faint.
"Well, we must go."
"No! We can't!" Vidia denied.
"We have to! My people are coming and if they see an elf next to their dead leader...." Kalen stopped himself from finishing. He refused to let Dain die.
Kalen knelt down besides Dain. "Come on, we need you." He whispered. "Come back to us. I need you."
As if on cue, Dain's eyes suddenly flew open and he gasped for breath. Some water rushed into his mouth and he coughed it back out.
Kalen didn't say anything; he just beat hugged Dain for what felt like an eternity.
"Kalen, Look." Dain pointed to the hole in his shirt where he was stabbed and it was completely healed. Only a scar was left behind.
"Dain we gotta go. Our people are coming and they will kill Vidia and Elian."
"I know. I heard them." Dain looked at Vidia who was smiling from ear to ear.
"Go. I'll still be here when you come back." Vidia said. Dain was about to protest but stopped himself. He knew that there was no time to say goodbyes. Dain got out of the water soaking wet.
"Can I steal one of those?" Kalen asked. He pointed to one of the Oberons.
Vidia laughed. "Yes, go ahead." Dain and Kalen both jumped on he horse and unsteadily galloped away.
"Now what?" Elian asked Vidia.
"We rebuild, stronger than before."
"What about the Nyx kingdom?"
"Well," Vidia began. "We must still have some robbery's and raids here and there." Elian looked at Vidia weirdly.
"Robbery's?" Elian repeated. "You want to occasionally rob the Nyx kingdom?"
"You can never have too much fun, Elian." Vidia smiled and Slian did, too.
"Wanna rob them, I don't know.... next week at four pm?" Elian asked. He held out his hand for Vidia to seal the deal.
"Deal." Vidia shook his hand. "Plus, we must get your Oberon back."
While Vidia and Elian were repairing their kingdom, Vidia realized that the fight wasn't for revenge. It was for equality.
Vidia was happy that she can still taunt the Nyx kingdom. She hoped to never have another war again. After all, she has millions of dollars in repairs.
Vidia just hoped to see Dain again. Her biggest fear was that he would forget about her. But how can he after he fought a war for her?
Vidia smiled when she received a message at her desk the other day. She pressed the button and it read a message from Dain saying that his kingdom was fully repaired and that he was mad Vidia stole back her Oberon from him.
Vidia laughed at the memory which made people stare at her.
Vidia had also made a memorial for Shay in the center of the kingdom. It was a fountain with a gold arrow at the top made of pure silver and gold. What Vidia found as odd was that Shay's body was never found- not a single trace. It wa alike Shay just got up and walk away.
Which, for Vidia, wasn't hard to believe. After everything Vidia saw, anything was possible.
Another thing Vidia found as odd was that when repairing a bar, the safe was broken open and all the armor was stolen from it. She didn't find it Who it was, just that they owed a lot of money.
Now, all Vidia had to do was wait. Wait for Dain to come back and give her her money. Because after a few weeks of scoping out the bar, she found out that it was Dain and his friend who stole the armor. I mean, Dain's blood was literally all over the floor.
I guess Vidia had to rob them again for good old fashion revenge.
