Ty lee left the house and immediately felt sick to her stomach. What she was doing was such a huge risk but she knew the right thing to do was never the easiest. Without looking back she marched down the path and headed down the street. She walked for a while until she turned down the road where she first followed Changkyun, and froze. Her bike. She remembered she left her bike chained to the fence when she followed him. She ran across the road and sure enough it was still chained there. Surprisingly no rioters had touched it because it was hidden from street view. She tugged on the chain locking the bike to the fence and cursed.
"Fuck! No key." She muttered before picking up a rock and smashing the lock repetitively and hard, in hope of breaking it but she had no luck. She could just turn and leave but she knew if she were to start anywhere, it was by getting a ride. She stopped to think for a second and the bitter cold breeze started to come through her jumper. She pulled a hair pin out of her hair and stuck it in the padlock, fiddling with it until she eventually prized it open. "Yes!" She celebrated as she yanked the chain off and hopped on her bike.
She didn't know where she was heading but knew her instinct would take her where she needed to be. She found herself making her way towards the studio, peddling through the deserted littered streets until her her calves started to burn. As she pulled up, all colour left her face. There were bullet holes that had shattered the glass windows and crumbled the bricks in the wall. The walk way to the entrance was blocked with debris from the brick wall and glass windows so she climbed through the hole in the broken window scratching her leg and ripping a hole in her jeans. She jumped inside, landing in a squat. Her shoes crunched against the sound of broken glass and rubble on the floor. She wanted to cry as she looked around. She saw drops blood on the floor and immediately swung her hand to her mouth in shock as she invisioned what could have happened here. She saw bullet remains scattered across the floor as the lights flickered vigorously above her. What used to be a beloved happy scene was now that of a horror film. She stood on the spot, her shoes crunching and dust floating around her, when she noticed something on the floor. A watch. She walked over to it and picked it up in her hands. The glass face had been cracked but it still flashed blue. Curious, she pushed the transmission button but recieved nothing but white noise. Tears stung her eyes and in frustration she threw the watch on the ground aggressively forcing the metal plated back of the watch to come apart. She looked at it at the corner of her eye and paused before she crouched down beside it and flicked through the broken glass to find a small piece of paper. She picked it up carefully and unfolded it. It was a picture of her and Changkyun at her Ninjitsu class when she was 8. She smiled through tears as she looked at herself in her ninja uniform pulling a pose as her brother pretended to get beaten up by her moves. She stroked the picture with her fingers lightly as she embraced her brother's smiling face. How happy, young and free he was. How they both were. She folded the piece of paper back up, tucked it back inside the watch and put it in her back pocket safely as she wiped her tears from her cheeks.
With that she ran over to the kitchen to check for their hidden weapons in the cupboards but they had all been seized. "Shit." She said. The only thing she found from Changkyuns room back at the house, was his butterfly balisong knife and a few smoke pellets.
She left the studio in a huff and jumped back on her bike, riding to the nearest petrol station where she stocked up on sugary drinks and snacks to refuel her energy. She hadnt eaten properly in days and it was really taking its toll on her. All stores that remained open now during the riots had heavily armed store managers. The man who served her wore a bulletproof vest and leather jacket with a rifle hanging over his shoulder. Neither of them exchanged words, only looks, as she made eye contact over her dust mask. She pulled the card out of her pocket as she opened a can of RedBull when she came out of the store. She dialled the number into the payphone across the street and Yugyeom answered.
