"Paige? Can you come in here, please?" Piper called. "I have something for you." Seconds later, Paige entered from the kitchen, where she had been doing the dishes. "What's up, Piper?" she inquired as she dried her hands on a dishtowel. "Well, since you like to sing to Peyton so much, I brought home the spare karaoke machine from the club... give you something to do if you get bored."
"Thanks, Piper, but my daughter is the only audience I feel comfortable singing to... you saw what happened when I sang in Nate-the-creep's piano bar. "
"The rest of us were affected too, and you only lost your voice because of the damned monkey totem and the Crone. Later on when you sang, you did a great job...I know this because he videotaped it and gave it to me," Piper informed her sister quietly. "And you were planning on telling me this when?" Paige inquired pointedly, tapping her foot on the floor and glaring at Piper as she waited for the answer.
"Look, Paige... I'm sorry," Piper stated softly. "You sure you don't want to give it another shot? Make a tape for Glenn?"
"No, Piper, I don't. And if I did, I wouldn't want witnesses," Paige answered. "Suit yourself." Piper replied as she shrugged her shoulders. "Anyhow, I've got a song for you...you're gonna love it!"
"I'm afraid to ask." Paige muttered with a scrunched face, thinking her sister was just a bit weird. "Just sit down and listen. I re-worded a song just for you, sis," Piper informed her. Paige seated herself on the couch and looked warily at Piper as her sister turned the machine on. "Very funny, Peeper!" Paige snapped as the melody to Cher's song 'Half-Breed' began. "Just you shoosh!" Piper ordered. Seconds later, she began to sing.
"My mother, a witch, had an affair with her Whitelighter.
The white lighter's name was Samuel Wilder.
They didn't know what would happen if they kept me.
So they dumped me at a Church for fear of the Elders.Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's half-witch, half-Whitelighter.
Both sides were against me since the day I was born.
The nun at Church found a family named 'Matthews,'
they adopted me, were the best of any parents.
As I grew older, I gave them hell as a teenager.
They died in the car by a Mack truck collision.
Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's half-witch, half-Whitelighter.
Both sides were against me since the day I was born.
A powerful essay about the crash landed me into college.
I got a degree, went into social work.
I'd always felt very different from others,
my life since then has been turned upside down.
But I can't run away from what I am, you see...
Half-breed, that's all I ever heard
Half-breed, how I learned to hate the word
Half-breed, she's half-witch, half-Whitelighter.
Both sides were against me since the day I was born.""Cute sis...very cute." Paige remarked dryly as Piper's little performance came to a close and she bowed at the waist. "I'll get you back...I promise you that," she vowed. "Wait and see, lady."
"Talk is cheap, Missy Paige." Piper scoffed, waving her hand dismissively at her youngest sister. "Bring it on, woman...I dare you to try."
"As soon as I find the right song, I will. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to finish the dishes," she stated as she got up and stalked angrily from the room.
Halliwell Manor Kitchen- That Night
Glenn walked in the back door from work to find his fiancée scribbling furiously in a notebook. "Honey, what are you doing?" he inquired. "Re-wording something to make it fit my purpose." Paige answered, not looking up from her task. Glenn glanced over her shoulder, kissing her near her hairline as he read what she was writing. "That's funny," he said with a chuckle. "Which sister pissed you off?"
