Paige and Glenn orbed into their room, hoping to have a moment or two alone before Peyton woke up from her nap. "Ahh, alone at last." Paige murmured quietly as she grasped Glenn's hand and turned to lead him to the bed. "Hello," they heard a voice utter suddenly. "WAAAHH!!" Paige screamed as she whipped around to find the source of the voice. "Piper! What are you doing?! You could scare a person half-to-death!" Paige scolded her sister.
"Well, some people would consider a half-Whitelighter to be half-dead, so do you want me to just finish you off, or what?" Piper inquired. "'Cause if I don't take you out, now, you may not like what's in store for you."
"Don't be cryptic!" Paige shrieked. "You know I hate it as much as you do!"
"Leo's waiting for you downstairs," Piper stated, as she raised Peyton to her shoulder to burp her. "You got yourself in big trouble with the Elders, lady." Off Paige's look of horrified guilt, Piper continued, saying. "Yeah, they called Leo about your little orbing free-for-all."
"Oh boy," Paige muttered, looking frightened. "Oh boy is right... he has orders to take you Up There as soon as he sees you, so I'd suggest you get downstairs now, before you piss them off further," Piper commanded with a stern expression. "Okay," Paige answered quietly as she headed for the door.
As Glenn moved to follow Paige downstairs, Piper said firmly, "Glenn, I'd suggest that you stay here and tend to your daughter. The less The Elders see of you and Paige together right now, the better off you'll both be, believe me."
"What do you mean see us together?" Glenn questioned as he sat on the edge of the bed, facing Piper, who was seated in the rocking chair, still holding Peyton. "How can they do that?"
"Well, it's kind of like when you were a kid and still believed in Santa Claus, Glenn," Piper explained. "Only at that time, you believed that he watched your every move because you were a child and basically did what you were told. It's kind of like that with The Elders, and being watched over. I know for a fact that they do exist, though, because I've seen them."
"You've seen them?" Glenn queried skeptically. "When?"
"Well, I don't know how much Paige has told you about her, because they never formally met, at least while she was with us, that is..." Piper stopped to blink back the tears forming in her eyes before she continued, saying. "We had an older sister named Prue."
"The one whose spirit was reborn in Peyton, correct?" Glenn interrupted. Piper nodded and brushed away the tears rolling down her cheeks, snuggling her niece tightly as she spoke again, saying, "When Prue was alive, we dealt with a Warlock named Eames... Eames was a warlock bent on being supreme ruler of evil. He was killing witches strong enough to obtain his dream. He then summoned a Darklighter, disappeared when the Charmed Ones came, a Darklighter, who was thought to be a witch in Phoebe's premonition, appeared and shot at Leo who orbed out. Then Eames blinked in, hurled a fireball vanquishing the demon, took the Darklighter's crossbow and made off on his mission.
Darklighters are the opposite of Whitelighters; instead of healing good witches like Whitelighters do, they try to kill them. They also shoot arrows at Whitelighters. The arrows are coated with a poison that brings a slow and excruciatingly painful death to a Whitelighter. Without Whitelighters, good witches, and good people, who are mortally wounded before their appointed time, can't be healed. This was the evil plan that Eames had so he could collect unlimited powers. He just needed one more power to do it...."
