Anti sits on the couch lazily, tossing a knife into the air above his head and catching it by the tip of the blade. I guess he doesn't really have to worry about things like physical damage. I head to the door quietly, so as not to disturb him, thinking about a catchy song instead of what I'm doing. As my hand meets the doorknob, I jump as a knife wedges itself in the wall an inch from my head.
"Where ya goin', [Y/N]?" the demon questions. I can tell he probably hasn't even moved from the couch yet, most likely throwing the knife in my direction without looking.
"I'm just going for a walk," I respond, becoming a bit annoyed with him. Then, I turn back to him. I stifle a mini heart attack when I find that he's standing right behind me. "Why do you feel the need to control everything I do?"
He gives me a small glare. "Are you questioning my authority over you?"
I fight the urge to shrink away from him, refusing to show any fear. "I'm questioning why you feel the need to have authority over me."
Anti seems disappointed that I didn't cower, but answers me: "It's fun. And you're my entertainment – Can't have you breaking."
I sigh. "Can you please stop referring to me like I'm some toy?"
"Why?" he asks, seemingly genuinely confused.
"I'm a person." Anti still seems perplexed. "I have a significant consciousness. There's intelligent thought up here," I explain further, pointing to my head.
"Significant?" Anti laughs. "You do realize that you're nothing more than a speck of dust in the infinite universe, right?"
I roll my eyes. "I know that. I'm talking about its importance in comparison to how you interact with me. I have my own thoughts and opinions, and I'm no idiot." Suddenly, I can't fight the urge to brag: "And you're forgetting that I did outsmart your original nightmare for me."
The 'A' on my chest flares a bright red, but I hold my ground and maintain eye contact. Anti's eyes are glowing bright, and he begins to glitch out more. A low growl comes from him.
"Am I wrong?" I manage against the burning pain on my chest.
Glowering, Anti jerks the knife out of the woodwork and moves away from me. I leave the house, pleased with myself.
Unfortunately, when the night arrives, I realize that I might've gone too far. My eyelids feel heavier than usual as I lay down, and I quickly fall asleep.
I'm whisked away to the nightmarish pillars. The spotlights engage, and the pit of fire roars below. Time to pick a new horror, I sigh.
Feeling adventurous, I decide to try the pillar with dripping blood. As I move closer, I find that that column has another path leading off of it. I wait until the pause in between the drops, moving underneath the area from which it originates. As I make it to the other path, I find another knife. After tugging it out, the ground begins shaking.
I look up and see a large beast in front of me. It moves forward, seemingly made entirely of a pine colored mist. Chartreuse eyes lock onto me, and my chest tightens in fear. It's about twelve feet tall, with smaller hind legs and massive arms. I shake my head, steeling myself for whatever happens next.
This thing has eyes, I frown. It can definitely see me.
Slowly, I begin to back away from the thing, its eyes watching my every move. When I get far enough away, I bolt, taking off down the path away from it and tucking the knife into the waistband of my pants. It lets out an earth-shaking roar and begins to lumber after me. It chases me to the end of the path, dropping off into a cliff with no visible bottom. Stalactites hang above it, but the ground below seems like a pile of gravel and loose stones. I stop, unsure of what to do.
The monster quickly closes in on me, growling.
Fuck it. I jump off of the edge of the cliff, deciding to risk the pain to be able to get away from that thing. Mere seconds before I hit the ground, I feel a slimy object wrap around my wrist, nearly yanking my arm from its socket. Looking up, I find the beast had caught me with its tongue.
The thing's mouth unhinged wider than a snake's, as if its jaw is completely disconnected from its body. Inside of it, I see rows and rows of small, sharp teeth. It's insides seem to be coated in that same black goo that was inside the Jack-faced creature. As the beast reels me up, some of the substance slips down the thing's tongue, burning my arm.
I reach for my waistband, pulling out the knife and cutting the beast's tongue. A spray of the black stuff douses my arm, and I wince at the pain. I fall about nine feet straight down on my back. The sharp stones cut through my shirt, making multiple tiny scars along my back. The bleeding stops fairly quickly, but it takes a moment for me to regain the air knocked out of me. I look up at the beast who recoils at the pain. The other end of its tongue had fallen with me. I carefully unwrap it and toss it aside.
The beast above stumbles back, then slams its fists onto the ground. I fall back down as there's a minor earthquake. The beast looks over the cliff's edge and roars at me. Along with the ground, the ceiling shakes as well. Two stalactites fall, piercing through the monster's head. Both sink into its skull and fall through its eye sockets. It releases a low scream and claws at its face. Unfortunately, it's far from dead. It only becomes more furious, jumping off the edge of the cliff after me.
