Blood in the Breeze

Introduction

        "Hurry up Maria we're gonna be late!" Said her sister, Nadia, who was trying not to be late for church this week. Nadia and Maria were walking down the street together. They were sisters but they looked as different as fire and water.

        Nadia had long, dark brown, wavy hair. She had red lips that laid in a straight line, and eyes that were hazel but liked to change colors slightly when her mood changed. She was tall and thin. Nadia was almost always solemn. Maria, on the other hand, had a full head of blonde curly hair, a mouth that was either talking or smiling, and blue-green eyes that sparkled in the sunlight. She wasn't as thin as her sister and she was shorter. Maria had always been the happier one. She knew she was different from Nadia. There was something in Nadia's veins that ran cold the day their parents died. Nadia knew that Maria was too young to remember that day, but she remembered it perfectly.

        "Hurry up Maria!" Nadia said while pulling Maria behind her. Thanks to Maria they barely got to the church on time. "Well look who finally decided to show up." Sebastian said teasing Nadia. They had known each other for as long as they could remember. They would probably end up getting married, just like a fairy tale. That was the way things worked in this small town. Sebastian invited them over to his house for lunch. Nadia and Maria both liked that idea. Maria's best friend was his little sister and ever since she got sick she wasn't allowed out of the house. And that way Nadia and Sebastian could have some some alone time, since both their sisters were occupied. They accepted his offer. "Be there by noon."

        They rushed home and changed. They ended up getting there at 11:30 and the food was still being made so they had some free time.
